god dammit, made a really nice run at the end of the game there, then just broke down.
Its so clear that we have no playoff experience, especially when pitted against Vince Carter and Jason Kidd. |
It wasn't about playoff experience. It was about making the stops and the raps failed to do that.
Oh, and getting pwned inside game. Again.
Jason Kidd was huge though. Wow. |

Exactly! I was at the game when Carter made his return to Toronto...that was priceless! So many people wearing Diapers and booing and stuff...but thats understandable since it was his first game back...
But this is the playoffs. Carter feeds off of our negativity..instead of spending all of their energy booing Carter, they need to cheer as much for the Raptors and show them that we fully support them...

i totally agree with you 100% .. unfortunately for most of this city, many fans still don't see it that way. Carter has evenly publicly said that he thinks back about TO and all the good times rather than the bad and that the good times will always overshadow the bad.
Lawrence Frank, many other coaches, and players are also quite astonished that the VC animosity still exists in the city despite the success that our team has had since his departure. In fact I even think that it's starting to get pretty embarrassing given how lame and petty the booing has become in the eyes of the media outside of Toronto.
The fans in this city and the Raptors need to start focusing on NJ as a team instead of constantly worrying about Vince all the time. He showed today that if he's not having a good shooting night, he'll know to pass it as he did when Nachbar hit that 3 pointer late in the game to put us away.
"The first time I wanted to win more than anything. Now you know it's coming, you expect it. It's three years later, let's get over it."
- Vince Carter
For Toronto Raptors fans, soon to be quite possibly the lamest in the NBA .. next to Detroit.

Oh it's definitely lame....but sooo much fun to join in.
I think the chants still occur because the media has taken every opportunity to bash Vince and thus affect popular opinion. They would often take things he said out of context to incite more hatred towards him. Also, the Babtrade was criticised by everyone even though it was neccessary to get the cap room that enabled us to sign AP, Bosh, Jorge etc. I mean, people make it seem like the worst trade in NBA history when it was clearly something that had to happen.
I think that a lot of Toronto sports fans are VERY passive in their interest and tend to act like sheep (by accepting the mainstream view and not thinking outside the box) |

screw that! if i was at today's game i'd be one of the booers. why wouldn't you? vince has the heart of a mouse, and if it's possible at all for the fans to alter his game than we should boo as loud as possible!
apparently it worked somewhat today..going into the 4th quarter, vince was shooting 25% (4/18 or something) so the fans were obviously having a detrimental effect to his confidence. |

tj ford ed that game up for them. he tried to be a hero too early on....his ability to score outweighed his discretion as a point guard and unfortunately the toronto offense suffered as it's expense....it took them too long to get it going and get back into the game.....

I think some of it can be put on TJ, but in the end take the loss as as a team. I know what you're saying, but I feel like in a lot of ways this loss was the best thing to happen to them. |

In the 4 times he had played here before today he's had good and bad games. nonetheless i still think the good he did for the city far outweighs what he did in his last 2 seasons here. Let's not forget that Vince was not the sole culprit in our woes back in 2003/2004. Vince was frustrated with the management moreso than anything in my mind. That piece of rust Richard Peddie still lingers from the Alan Sleight era. Who the hell hires a coach before they hire a GM.
Anyways, i won't be surprised if Vince has at least 1 game in this series where he drops 30+ points on us shooting at least 40% or better. Personally if I walked into a place where the whole crowd was booing me I'd be motivated to no end. I remember T-Mac once telling the TO fans to "keep booing" when asked about it during a post-game because of the drive it gives him.
We've booed Damon Stoudamire, Marcus Camby, Doug Cristie, Antonio Davis, Tracy McGrady, and now Vince Carter. I honestly don't know of or have heard of any other city in the NBA that boos its former players more than Toronto. We might as well start booing Chris Bosh as well since it'll only be a matter of time if he doesn't end up retiring here.

i'm with you 100% on this...even tho i'm pissed that they lost...they are still a very young team still have a good amount of learning to do....
which imo is awesome because as good as they are now...you can see that that isn't even close to their potential as a team. |

i agree with you. toronto fans are pathetic. and we're not even getting into VC's head. Our booing and his low shooting percentage have nothing to do with eachother. |
