Correct.
We can't afford Mo Pete, who is a free agent, especially since we have the increasingly impressive Parker.
We don't need two starting point guards, and I think they will trade TJ before Calderon. I think it was telling that TJ rode the pine in the 4th quarter of Game 6, even though he was playing (or should I say shooting, not passing) very well. That said, TJ's close relationship with Bosh, may mean that TJ stays and Calderon goes. I think Colangelo's positive comments about TJ are intended to try to make it seem like he doesn't want to give him up, to maximize trade value.
Graham is way too inconsistent, and had more than enough opportunities to prove himself. I'd be surprised if he is on any roster in the league in 2-3 years.
Dixon is too small, and with the signing of Luke Jackson, who is less of a defensive liability and a better shooter, there is little need to keep him around. All that chatter about Juan being a clutch performer and built for the playoffs, turned out to be wishful thinking.
Humphries had a break out year, which means his trade value is probably as high as it will ever be. I just don't think he has the mental or physical toughness required to become a regular in the rotation. With Garbo back and Bargnani starting next season, Humphries' role will be reduced to left bench. Just to the right of Pape Sow.
Martin is simply too old to keep a spot on the roster, and will likely seek to become an assistant coach with the Raptors, if not elsewhere.
Who do you think will be gone before next season, if anyone?
P.S. How good is Utah?!?!?! Those guys play so hard and play together. I could see them winning it all, to be honest. Utah vs. Bulls (yes, the Bulls, despite the Game 1 fiasco) in the Final, with Utah winning in 6. :wtf: |

Clevland over Detroit? I dunno about that ;)
IMHO, Detroit is only behind Phoenix in terms of skill and experience. I would love to see a Phoenix-Detroit final.
Jeff, I agree with most of what you said...though I don't see TJ or Calderon moving in a trade, unless Colangelo comes up with some can't-turn-it-down option.
Rumours are that Minnesota is shopping Garnett, despite both he and the team denying it. I would love to see KG in a Raps uniform, at whatever cost, because he's *exactly* what the Raps lack...a guy who rebounds, blocks and defends.
AFAI am concerned, Bosh, Bargnani and Calderon would be the only 'untouchables'. |

Yea, I agree with that. Kobe was still really young back then, and Shaq has a couple of years on him. |

I agree. I'll be really surprised if Mo Pete is still playing for us next year.

I disagree. I think we'll definitely keep both PG's until at least next season, possibly until the trade deadline. I do think though, that because of TJ's relationship with Bosh, and the fact that he was brought in as the "number 1" PG means that Jose will go. Which will really really really really suck. Maybe Jose and Jorge will go together in a blockbuster trade.

I think the kid just cracked under pressure. I wouldn't give up on Joey just yet. Give him one more year. Maybe even wait until trade deadline to see if his performance improves.

I could see both Dixon and Humphries go out in a trade in the off-season. Like you said, for the Raptors, Kris probably reached his peak. Trade him now, along with Dixon for a solid back up for Bosh.

I'd love to see him as an assistant head coach on our team.

I really wanted to see a Houston-GS match up but oh well. Utah proved to be the better team in the end. I don't see them winning it all though. Right now they play GS which could go either way at this point. Sooner or later the Warriors' magic will run out. I could see them getting past Utah, but in round 3 they'll be playing Phoenix who I think will just destroy GS.
I'm crossing my fingers for Chicago too. I hate Detroit. In the East I see Chicago playing Cleveland and beating them in 7, to on to play the Suns, recreating the 1993 Championship. |

The Toronto Star
Raptor puzzle mostly in place
May 06, 2007
What's next for the Raptors?
THE CORE
Chris Bosh
Three-year contract extension with a player option for a fourth year kicks in next season. Cornerstone of the franchise, he keeps improving.
T.J. Ford
Three-year contract extension with a player option for a fourth year kicks in next season. Young point guard learning his way as team leader.
Andrea Bargnani
Under rookie contract for next three years with a team option for a fourth. Vastly improved from start of year, sky's the limit.
THE SUPPORTING CAST
Anthony Parker
Two years remaining on contract. A glue guy who might have most complete game on team.
Jose Calderon
One year remaining on contract. Could be best backup point guard in the league, comfortable with role.
Jorge Garbajosa
Two years remaining on contract. Has to come back from serious leg injury.
Rasho Nesterovic
One year guaranteed remaining, one year player option. Solid, if unspectacular. If Bargnani's projected as a starter, he could be moved.
THE QUESTION MARKS
Morris Peterson
Free agent this summer. It'd be a big surprise if longest-serving Raptor was in Toronto next season. May fetch good value in a sign-and-trade.
Joey Graham
One year left on deal. Infuriates coaches with inconsistency, shocks them with athleticism, but it might be time to move him along.
Kris Humphries
One year left on rookie contract. Good backup deep in rotation, energy guy who can help if he'll be satisfied with secondary role.
Juan Dixon
One year left on contract. Good rotation player in regular season, proven scorer who can help.
Luke Jackson
A guaranteed deal for next year. He's cheap – less than $500,000 – and much more a project than a prospect. Depth guy.
Pape Sow
Free agent in the summer. Everyone loves the guy, but not sure there'll be room at the end of the roster for him.
Uros Slokar
Free agent this summer. See Sow. Same deal, but may have enough potential that they keep him around for another look.
Darrick Martin
Free agent this summer. If he wants to play another year as a de facto coach, they should bring him back; if he wants to coach, they should add him to the staff.

boris diaw and amare stoudemire suspended!!!!
shocking.... last night's game 4 of suns vs. spurs was one of the best basketball games i've seen in awhile, but the way the spurs roughed up nash really detracts from the beauty of the game. and last night's altercation where Horry violently pushes Nash into the boards was completely unprofessional. and who gets punished? i feel like killing! hopefully the suns can win shorthanded tomororrow. |

I hate the Pistons might've been better. I dunno. I just never liked the "attitude" that comes with that team. |
