Musically, this wasn't the best party I have ever been to, so I guess it's completely true, friends do make the party! I had an amazing time with all the angels. It was such a good idea Danielle and Nada, and thanks sooooo much for going to all that trouble for those shirts, it was well worth it!! I had a great time partying with you girls, (and others, Josh, RJ, Margs, Brandon and Linds) and honestly, you are what made my night! Hope it's not too too long before I see you all again! |
you seriously are too cute for words. |

Oh yeah just one more thing:
all the people yelling out Armin during Blake Jarrels set. I found that to be so ing insulting. As I am sure he did.
Way to go Toronto  |
agreed.

we were sitting in the very very back and i was disgusted with that display.
poor kid must have had his heart crushed. |

Despite the 2 power outages (bad surge protectors), I still had alot of fun playing at KH. Luckily the sound guys were quick to respond to the problems and knew exactly what was going on. It sort of takes the wind out of you when that happens in front of 2000+ people twice. As for the Armin chanting, that happens in every city and I am used to it. I dont blame people for it, they are there for Armin.
Anyhow, Toronto is a BEAUTIFUL city and the experience playing at KH was still one of my favorite gigs overall.
Someone asked what the last track I played was, it was Solee - Impressed.
Thanks everyone!

Thanks Blake for posting!
And thanks for clarifying the problems.
You are welcome back to Toronto anytime. Great set! |

Good times on Sat. It was great to see everyone out! Thx soo much Danielle & Nada for going to all the trouble to have our shirts done!!! Really appreciated!!
Blake Jarrell: Didn't like his set - was hoping to hear a few other remixes like "Wouldn't Change A Thing". The "power outages" may not have been his fault, but the 2nd time it happened I was watching closely and it looked to me like he had just hit the pause button or accidently because after a few minutes of the sound people checking over everything and still not getting any sound Blake suddenly just looked at the CD deck and hit a button and the music started playing where it had left off. Dunno for sure, but that's what it looked like. Regardless, i'm sure he was nervous, being one of his biggest gigs to date and having hundreds of people screaming for Armin. I felt really bad for him at that point. However, I still wasn't impressed with his set. Mixing was decent, but nothing special.. Overall i'd have to give Blake a 4/10  Sorry Blake, I was expecting a lot more
Armin van Buuren: Having seen Armin 12 times now, I must say that this was one of his best performaces imo. The intro with "Misere" with the heart-beat on the screen was awesome. I felt he was really on his game, playing all of my requests. Lots of incredible uplifting tunes:
The Great Escape, Beautiful, Megashira, Ascent :eyespop:, The Sunlight, Super Nature :eyespop:, Anthem , Why, Whatever (Aly & Fila Remix), Children (Tyas Remix), Read My Mind (G&D Remix), etc.
LOVED the set and all the visuals - the only thing I didn't like were a lot of the transitions from really hard to uplifting, but that's Armin for ya - some people really like it when he plays hard. I personally LOVE trance, for the uplifting stuff. Overall I'd give Armin a 9.5/10
Markus Schulz: As I just mentioned above, the reason I LOVE trance is for the uplifting sound - This was anything but that. Then again it is Markus Schulz, who is known for progressive, but this set was A LOT harder than I've ever heard from him.
Sorry, I can't say I was into it at all to be honest, but that's just my opinon. However, I am really glad to see that a lot of you really enjoyed it and had a good time for his set.
Overall: 9/10 Although I didn't like Blake and Markus - Armin killed it for me. Also, getting to see everyone and have a great time made it well worth it.
I have a TON of incredible videos from all of Armin's big uplifting tunes that I will post later - for those interested. I was standing right up front for his whole set, so you can really see him well in all the vids and suprisingly the sound is pretty good in most of them too beacuse there weren't any speakers up near the front, centre of the stage except for the monitors - so the sound isn't as distorted as it usually would be when taking videos at a party. |

SH!T happens. I knew the problem may have been out of your reach. Sound just doesn't stop just like that... now what I want to know is what is the name of that female vocal track you were playing when that happened (and restarted)? I loved it!
I've heard one dj, Matthew Dekay in fall 2005, skip CDs several times during a night until he was being boo'd after the 3rd cd skip session. After the 4th time, it was enough to make me to leave and dance in the Orange room.
Shout outs to all the new TAs I met, and especially the long time TAs I FINALLY met.
Armin didn't do much for me. I've seen him three times before. But I met LOTS of great people, partied with awesome TAs, and one new TA (you know who you are).
The negative... what I would never expect on a warm night like we had... people's sweat dripping from the ceiling in the KH. Seems lots of sweaty condensation accumulated on the AC ducts, and ended dripping on people all night. Ew.
I did leave early, which I regret in a lot of ways. |

Its part of the business when you are opening up for people such as Armin, Tiesto and Lawler....they tend to bring out the annoying crowd that doesn't have the respect for the DJs as most TOTAs do. |

I think this was a one time thing... However, did anyone else realize they opened up the VIP area for everyone at 2am? |

Didn't arrive until after 11 or so, which turned out to be alright given that I was looking forward to catching some of Blake's set...and he was on till close to 1 anyways. Despite the technical difficulties ( happens), I really enjoyed his tunes and yes that Death Cab remix was haunting to say the least.
Can't quite say that I'm the biggest fan of the style of music that Armin and Markus deliver respectively, but I could see that those who do fully appreciate it were having a fantastic time.
I spent a little more time in the Gallery actually, where Nathan Barato had a solid groove goin' on and set the stage perfectly for Heidi. She played ALL vinyl which you rarely see in today's technological age, and her 2 hour set seemed too short! She looked like she was havin' a great time behind the decks, and it showed in the music she was delivering.
Can't believe how much I danced though, the legs were well worn out by the time I got home, lol. |
