| I'm glad nothing sinister happened to him, but the whole thing is so sad. I think of that poor kid out in the bush trying to spite his parents - and then froze to death. It's hearbreaking no matter how you look at it, video game or no video game. |

No, an autopsy to confirm and ID, not a COD autopsy.
I now heard on the radio they currently waiting on dental records to confirm ID.
It's pretty clear now his face and possibly his body was consumed by wildlife, given they don't suspect foul play (they are confirming the latter with the autopsy as well however, like Yohan expressed). |
Since when do you need an autopsy to Id a body??? |

When scavenger animals have devoured the face to the point that one cannot recognize it. |

True.
But I was reading a quote from one of the hunter's that found him, and the funny thing they said was that his clothes were perfectly intact and it looked like he hadn't he'd been outside for 3 weeks, let alone a couple of days.

I'm going to go out on limb here and say that the probability that that this hunter's memory is flawed is much higher then that of the authorities spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on tests and keeping the parents in suspense for no apparent reason. |

Wow you even type the word minimal with the minimum amount of letters...
Do you know how long you have to decompose for your face to be unidentifiable???
And i wonder if the woods around Barrie contain the carnivores to eat a human... |

I found that odd. But notice he says his CLOTHES, nothing about the condition of the body. I think its odd for a person to comment on clothes and not the body. Also if he died from the cold it would have had to been at least a week ago, when it was really cold.... I would assume that a body would not look so good after being dead outside for a week.
So here is my take. Poor Brandon was too stubborn to go home and admit defeat. He may have also been injured while going through the forest (ie hurt his ankle so he couldn't walk). And judging by this boys home, he has a fairly cushy life and probably lacked any survival skills. It got really cold, he curled up, went to sleep and never woke up.
As I mentioned above the hunter never commented on the body... so to make the story appear a little less tragic and provide a better ending to the story... the reporter wrote about the clothes instead of the gruesome body.
But thats just my take. |

I believe there are coyotes, fox, rumors of bears, various scavenger birds.... |

I really can't be bothered to respond to this diatribe of crap but I am going to, for the last time. I can't prove anything to back up my belief right now but then again, neither can you for yours. Honestly, your comprehension is in question again as I have never spoken of this game in particular, just these types of games.
Stop likening this game to a bike. This wasn't a bike, it was a game he was addicted to that was having a detrimental effect on his life, schoolwork, relationship with parents - are you telling me the same could happen for a bike?
Parenting is in question, sure, but just as I have never played these games, neither will have most parents so how do you expect them to understand fully until it is too late???? (Although I would MAKE it my business if I was his mommy)

Alright lets put it this way, the way you originally worded your argument would be to say that a guy who was an alcoholic, died in a car accident in the forest, since his last drink was Canadien, clearly Molson is at fault for creating a drink that in turn made him an alcoholic, and then crashed his car killing him (regardless if he actually was drunk at the time). Im not going to argue that games in general might not have a detrimental effect to kids, because I have no proof to prove that statement right or wrong.
The only reason I could of been confused was because I read these as you wrote them:
| quote: |
This game obviously meant a lot more to him than it is intended to....
Open your mind to the possibility that the game had more to do with it than you initially said (nothing, could have been a bike).
I believe those types of games are more more detrimental to young minds than an adult would understand.

How is anyone suppose to understand that you are generalizing about all video games in general or that specific genre/game title? To me, it seems that you are blurring the subject with your prejudices against video games in general.
The bike comment was originally made to counter the game ratings argument, which was pretty silly, but honestly, this kid could of been addicted to alot of things if that was in his personality. The part that everyone should realize is that, any addiction can be bad for you, whether mentally, physically, everything should be taken in moderation for a healthy lifestyle. Thats what you try to teach to people, and some people getting faster than others, and some people are just useless and degenerate forever. Its just sad that out of spite he made a bad decision and costed him the dear thing his parents were trying to help, himself. |
