great party. ricardo and richie hawtin was my 1st piknic 3 years ago at Mutek so this brought back memories. only ran into Maher though, so missed most of you guys.
Showed up at 4:30 to hardcore rain, decided to drink under a tree and wait it out while and tons of ppl were leaving. Was dressed almost as warmly as for cabane a sucre electronik at the beginning of April, so was able to stick around till the end. he finished at 9:30 dead-on.
where can I get a sweater like the one ricardo was wearing  |
haha that was the best sweater. |

how badly does it have to rain for the event to be closed? Since there is suppose to be 'isolated showers' on sunday. |
It depends.
The thing is if they cancel the event, they have to pay the DJs anyways. So when you have Villalobos + Zip flown in from Germany, you don't cancel the event for isolated showers.
So they take into account every weather forecast before cancelling an event. Unfortunately, there is no way to know if it's cancelled or not. Just check their website on the same day. |

Sorry this is a copy and paste... but i cant be bothered to write it all out agian... haha... here's my review of mutek/ picnik
I started my weekend off being terribly ill.... went to see Atom on friday evening @ 6:30 which was pretty cool... went for a lovely italian dinner with the crew at a great restaurant called "Romeo". Got up in the morning, went to Coras across from our hotel with a bunch of peeps, and then headed off to Picnik day 1. The Mole was great, but Thomas Fehlmann really stole the show (boy that man can play). Went home and crashed for a little after that... headed out late to Metropolis (which is kind of like sonic and modclub mushed into one and extra big... lol. Don't know who the little dj was in the side room, but he stole me away till Carl Craig. Carl Craig was fantastic, and I was front row the whole time... but by 4am i was dying for sleep and headed home. Sunday got up around midday, grabbed a quick bite to eat, and jump started our afternoon to Picnik. Ricardo was already on when we arrived around 3pm... zip and him took turns alternatively playing off eachothers sound. I honestly didnt think I was going to be able to make it through the turmoil weather. Most of toronto headed home, but myself and a few others decided to brave it out. Front row right on the railing, neither hail nor wind nor rain nor thunder could have stopped us from danicng screaming and shaking. It was perfect weather for a festival, who cares, we are rockstars right? DJ Sneak made a guest appearance, and I hooked up with some of the people he had come in with, they informed me that there was an afterparty... so I decided to head home a little early from picnik around 8pm or so. I crashed hard till around 2am, got up, got ready, and busted my ass to SAT.Caught the end of the party @ SAT which was apparently really terrible, had a few drinks, and headed out with Sneak and Ricardo to the afterparty in old MTL. It wa sin an old studio loft appartment which was super cool. They had a makeshift bar in the kitchen, and I would say maybe 150-200 people max. It reached capacity instantly... but for those who made it in... what a monday morning it was to remember. DJ Sneak played all morning while ricardo busted a move or two on the dance floor with anyone and everyone...the walls were shaking and we couldnt open any windows incase the cops were called, so it was just a pure steam bath... no one looked pretty by the end of it, but absolutely everyone was having a blast. Sneak played some latin flavoured music late into the morning, followed by a little bit of moving and shaking tribal which turned the whole room animalistic. Quite possibly the best house party ever, and such a surreal moment in time. We decided to quit the afterparty just before midday and went back to Opus to chill with Ricardo and Sneak... had a few bevvies and chatted away. Tried to convince Riccardo on multiple occasions to come to toronto, even offered to change his flights for him but he said that his booking agent wouldnt allow...seriously considered missing my train and staying with a girlfriend for the night... to the point where in a sheer panick @ 3:10 i decided to smarten the hell up, get my together, checked out of my hotel form the opus by phone and scrammed to the train, only to get on the train for 3:20, as it departed @ 3:30. Following this, there was a load of ceasers consumed. |

Definitly agree on that, Fehlmann was sick
Maybe Pezzner? |
