I have faith in Quintal!

Illario Alicante, Luca Bachetti, Taster Peter, would be sick for piknic :) doubt it would ever happen tho.

Can't really complain when you got Ricardo, zip and possibly Hawtin :)

piknik's mission has always been (as they stated several times) exploration, discovery and accessibility for EDM in Montreal.

that's very noble, but why stick to only one or two genre of EDM? It's because there's a clear bias by the organizers.

they don't actually! they bring very diversified bookings if you think about it. minimal, tech, house, electro, dubstep, etc. Music is quite different from one weekend to another...it's just not commercial.

1- They do not stick to one or two genres.

They have featured artists playing minimal (Richie Hawtin, to name one), techno (Alex Under, Saunderson, Misstress), tech house (Josh Wink), electro, nu-rave/fluo kid music (MSTRKFT, NRTB), breakbeat (last igloofest had a breakbeat showcase), dubstep, dub (Ninja Tune showcases), dancehall (Ghislain Poirier), etc etc etc.

For every one of these artists, they have heard complaints and critics (particularly for Ninja Tune showcases). Each them they have dismissed these complaints and critics and re-stated their mission, "démocratiser et faire découvrir la musique électronique sous toutes (presque) ses formes"

They even publicly stated that they had received complaints for certain showcases and would redo them again because it's their thing and they get to choose

2- Of course there is a bias, what do you expect ? These 4 guys do it for fun. They want to hear the music they like. If they don't have fun anymore, it's dead, they'll pull the plug.

They have stated publicly their limits (they don't want trance or psytrance, that's final) but they keep featuring various musical styles that do not please all the time.

Each time they convert some people to those genres to make us discover

Do you really expect someone to have ZERO bias as to what music will be featured ?

lol come on malek !

i didn't win anything.

actually i still believe that a promoter needs to step up and bring another sound in the open air.

[bias] honestly, who wants to hear ty prog during the day at piknik? [/bias]

[truth] a whole event of progressive house would not fit piknik [/truth]

1- two pages ago, you said that you wanted another event to take place, not piknik "bringing another sound in the open air".

2- piknik DO bring other sounds in the open air, just not THE sound YOU want.

You can definitely want another sound, but saying that piknik is not diverse enough is totally unfair.
