I was probably in an annoyed mood when I wrote my review from getting bowled over by so many inconsiderate people, but if you are going to start charging money for an event, it's no longer a rally. That means people are going to expect a place to not be over-crowded and proper bathrooms/security provided. But it was never supposed to be about that, now it's becoming that. It's basically a festival now. With all that money collected, more of it ought to be spent on that (or did they not expact THAT many people?)

I guess this event was bound to get like this though. If was on a float, I probably wouldn't have cared!

I think I was just most disappointed with the sound constantly going out on the Spundae float, having John O'Callaghan have to leave and being replace by DJ Dan. ugh. (Again, thanks DaveT for the explanation. Can't really blame anyone esp. at a primarily cheap/free event like this, happens.)

I've experienced the SF love parades from the beginning and I just had more fun at those, that's all. Anyways, I got tons events on my calendar to look forward to, so no worries here!

I've experienced SF Love Parade from the beginning too. For the first 2-3 times, only the Spundae and Tantra floats had good crowds. Many floats disappeared the next year when they couldn't attract a crowd. I had to danced my ass off to get the crowd's energy level up. With debt and attendance issues, the event was on survival mode. I guess many early float participants would love to have the problems we have now.

Understand that the purpose of admission is to have the resource to clean up the mess. I think it is a BAD BAD idea to raise the admission to curve the demand. Blocking off more street space shouldn't be too much a problem since Pride Festival can do it.

I don't know if the organizers will be open to the idea of two-day event, as a way to handle the crowd issue. Most of the float participants would probably like it, but the big ones will be against it, since they would like to make a nice profit for their after-parties.

Most people ever at te parade, seemed to be about 1/3 more than last year, not an empty inch anywhere! I didn't even stay don't there much cuz there were too many people for me to dance, muchless stand, I'm fine with that!
I hope the city allows this again!
I was VIP from vulunteering, but my sister had to stand in a one minute line. Everyone was pretty nice.
Ever float was good, every sound I hear made me wanna dance as I walked around! And really cook people as ALWAYS!

THANK YOU LOVEVOLUTION STAFF

Afterparty review will be in that thread:D

My first experience at LovEvolution and I had my kids with me(since I notice kids there last year from pics taken).

We stood in a line for more then 15mins and then started getting shoved by the crowd when we finally made it to the front. I had asked security and cops to help me out since I had my two little ones, but they both refused. Luckily, another spectator was nice enough to help. The girls did get out of the wagon and dance in front of the Local Love float, but it was definitely getting out of hand with people either being to drunk or too high. Seems like there was a lot of minors.

One thing for sure, we won't be bringing the little ones next year.

Best Love event yet IMO..

Huge crowd, great music(Listed Float was on FIRE all day!!! Howells owned, packed the hell out of the Listed float and had everyones hands in the air for the time he played)

for the coming years the event needs to me moved or the streets need to be extended. As more people come every year its getting too crowded for that small civic center.

cant wait until 2010

That sucks but the generator was just cutting out. The are rented generators and it's something that just happens. (can tell you from experience at my old job!)

It happened last year too, but that was because of peeps jumping on the generator so it was shutting off as a safety measure.

This year, everyone did their best keep people from doing that, and no one was jumping on them any time it shut off...two peeps were standing on it the first time, but not jumping. The other times no one was on it. So it was shutting off on its own and I don't believe it was because too much power was being dawn (cause things could have been done to lower the power usesage I am sure).

This year, just looks to be a little bad luck with the generator.

Thanks for the explanation Dave. Well I figured it was something like that. Bummer that happened.

Well I just looked back at my pics, I guess I didn't have *that* bad a time. I really think it was my little escapade mixing too many types of alcohol that soured my mood :stongue: . I'm sure more reviews will start pouring in today.

Need to manage my alcohol a little more smartly next time :whip:

Missed the parade itself but the listed, local love and freedom floats at civic center were ace! Everything else near by and inbetween were lackluster... heard some decent dubstep but ty vocals :whip:

On way to a friends bar on Market to meet up with friends, I caught a few more floats -- some over already but the triple crown float looked banging! :)

Much like everyone else, I took yesterday and today to recoop...

My review for this years LovEvolution I can only say... SIMPLY AMAZING.

Last year, and the year before it definitely did not look like it did rolling in, nor throughout the day. There were so many people out and about for the parade down Market, and at the entrance to await their favorite floats.

Got to meet alot of people this year, Bigperf I finally met, Gil-La came over to kick it with us for a bit, lots of TA's, and plenty of women on and around our float. I never got tired of hearing "gotta love them cages."

Most of my time as I expected was spent on the Local Love float, exchanging signs, keeping s off our float. +'s this year was putting together our float with some cool decor, and some of that stretchy fabric I hoped to use. Sound for our float was crisp and clear this year.

Thanks to everyones review of our float decor!

Did actually try to mange walking across from one side to another.
This time it took 40 min, instead of 30. Im suprised no one is mentioning how balls cold it became after the sun started to go down.

Our crowd in front of our float was pretty amazing too. Much bigger than last years, and most of the people who gathered in front in the beginning, stayed all the way till the closing of our float!

Things Ill try to get done this week:

-The broadcast I tried failed. BUT, did manage to record all 8 hours from the beginning of our float...

-Edit some of the video, including our entrance to civic center.

-Get some of the pix up of our float, from beginning to final.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our Local Love float! It was awesome seeing all of you, and meeting new people and TA's. A suprise was seeing Koroma!
