if anyone here has any thoughts on this year's event for next year, please let the organizers know following the template below...
1. What worked?
2. What didn't work?
3. What can be improved for next year?
4. What would be a "killer" concept for next year?

1. What worked?
Parade Route down Market is solid; Wristband Guys for drinks(rather than 1 or 2 tables that form a HUGE line); Security and Emergency presence was well placed and on the spot; Musical diversity; Overall organization.
2. What didn't work?
Not enough trash cans; Not enough entry points; Lack of space (see "3." below.) (could SOME of that have been due to the main stage area?)
3. What can be improved for next year?
Need to expand by possibly opening up a couple blocks outside of the CC plaza to alleviate congestion and make more danceable and navigational space; More porta potties; I loved the booklets from 08 that we got at the entry point to the festival
4. What would be a "killer" concept for next year?
While the word "Urban" doesn't leave you as fuzzy as the Nature concept, city scapes and Urban jungle IMO would be a pretty cool conceptual change. (not broken down cars, burning stores, but but buildings, street lights, etc. Step out of the city and into another city.
>>> Lastly; IMO what worked for me this year as far as the official AP was concerned: House in the Main room! Loved the change!!!
REALLY hope this event can be produced again for next year...I think it has gotten better each year. Again, BIG thanks to all the event planners, organizers, city officials, etc.

In addition to bstorm, I want to make the following comments.
1. What worked?
Having civic center as the site. That's what brings out the people. The festival should not move to another location.
2. What didn't work?
Failed to predict the huge turnout. But that is understandable. With the name change and $10 admission, the turnout was expected to be lower than last year.
3. What can be improved for next year?
Make it a two-day event. Also, as bstorm indicated, more resources, street space, security, police, etc to accommodate more people.
4. What would be a "killer" concept for next year?
The same Love Parade message is enough to attract people.

I'm completely against making this a two day event.. LAME if you ask me. I mean we already have a full week of events that LEAD up to this massive parade and festival why split it into two days??

1. Obviously getting a big turn out worked. But this is also a negative. See # 2.
2.
- The crowd was too dense (at times unsafe, also made it difficult to get anywhere and check out all the various music, get to bathrooms, food, drink) If this stays the same I'll have to pick one float next time and just stay there.
- Not enough security (I know they probably wouldn't do a darn thing, but a better visual presence was necessary for such a large crowd)
- Not enough bathrooms.
- Not enough food options (long lines).
- Not really safe for kids anymore in those dense crowds.
3.
- I hate to say it, but given the space, once the space fills up, maybe entrance should be limited. Other option is to expand space, or charge more (I am sure no wants to do this).
- I think we need a way to encourage the a proper crowd. Do we really want drunks, joe public, party crashers, etc? Is the point of this event perhaps being lost? I think the event needs to be billed in more of a way of what it really is supposed to be. see #4
- Wish the parade could be a larger part of the event (the festival is taking over), but we all know the difficulties in shutting down mutlple streets of SF.
4. Maybe the event should consider allocating a slot for some sort of a centralized event within the event. Maybe all the music takes a break for 20 or 30 minutes. What happens then is up to the people. What's the message they want to send to the rest of the world, our leaders, the rest of the community, as to why there are at this event? Maybe invite some important public figures to partake?
I know this idea will probably be smashed down, but this is what certain other events do that are similar in format to Love Eveloution
and could give a lot more legitimacy to the event and help it keep on going.

Perhaps you can elaborate why it is LAME. Most of the parade + festival events in SF are two-day events. The only good reason I can think of that is bad is when the turnout is low.
