| Seriously what is so amazing and better about Terminator and Alien storyline? They are pretty freakin basic, all thats needed is some Sci Fi imagination and a nice budget. Avatar has a deeper storyline than both those movies combined imo. |

I don't think the writing is sub par, I think it's bang on the money for the genre. The genre just doesn't lend itself to particularly thoughtful content. I came expecting some easy entertainment and Cameron gave me everything I wanted. If I want to think or be moved I'll watch foreign cinema with little to no CGI or action.

Anyway, I just got home from the 3D IMAX screening and really enjoyed this piece of eye candy. Will definitely see it again before New Year's. In my opinion it was definitely better than Star Trek. |

I'm not trolling you. If you think these films aren't smart and have no cerebral content you obviously aren't paying enough attention. The very reason I'm willing to give Avatar a chance is because Cameron makes smart sci-fi. Although given you've just made a claim like "sci-fi doesn't lend itself to thoughtful content" I'd suggest you have a limited understanding of what you're talking about anyway. |
