Sorry, but I don't get your logic. Suarez did what any other player would do in that situation; most people on any team would expect their team mate to risk getting sent off if it prevented a goal and it did. I don't think seeing him celebrate was any great offense either. It's not like Uruguay has this sort of run every WC and knowing that a PK was saved under those circumstances would bring a positive emotion out of anyone.
On the other hand, I don't think Ghana are in any position to point the finger at anyone. They had a golden oppurtunity to win the game and they didn't. They were definetely the side with more gas in the tank as Uruguay were going for PK's since the whistle sounded for overtime. On top of that, they had the ultimate oppurtunity to win. A PK with a great chance of the final whistle being blown directly after would have guarenteed a semi birth. Most teams would give a limb for a half chance in overtime let alone a PK with no time added on after. Certainly there is no way they can point the finger else where. |
+1
It's like tripping/hooking someone who's on a breakaway in hockey, or like throwing your stick, or grabbing/holding the puck in the crease knowing that they'll have a penalty shot, but u do whatever you can to prevent being ousted that moment. The other team still had their chance (A HUGE ONE at that) to win it. The signs couldn't be more clear from the universe that it simply WAS NOT meant to be for them to win.
Also, just because all the big name, popular, bandwagon filled teams have been ousted doesn't mean the tournament is lame. It's for those exact reasons that the tournament has been amazing.
As I previously said, early in this thread, this will be a tournament filled with upsets & surprises. |

| Yup, congrats to the Dutch for making their first World Cup finals since 1978. Uruguay made a game out of it in the last few minutes and it was an exciting/nervous finish, but ultimately the better team won. Just glad it wasn't a walk in the park and the winner deserved to be in the finals. |

Good on the Dutch!
(I still want Spain to win it all though...) :D
btw, what was with waiting so long to blow the whistle in extra time? That was a little much imo |

first half was uruguay's...they were on the ball, agressive, they played like they wanted to win!!
van bronckhorst's and forlan's goals were of superb quality :)
2nd half - uruguay came out strong again, attacking and played hard...but sneijders goal in the 70th min looked like it put them in the grave...which was kinda disappointing to me because it's the semi-finals, ur down 1-0 u should be playing balls to the walls!!!!
robben's header was just WOW!!! struck so hard, angled downward and just off the inside of the post!
uruguay started playing better with too little time on the clock left - amazingly well executed free kick/set play in the 90th min
big W T F of the game for me was - WHY would u take off forlan when ur down in the world cup semi finals..... u ing play ur best players until they run themselves into the ground, u don't take them out!!!! ... bad bad move!! esp when they could've used them after it was 3-2!
all in all it was a good game however i think the dutch could've played better/wasn't their best game |

Congrats to the Dutch but full credit to Tabarez for his work with Uruguay. They may not have been the flashiest or most clinical but they were very well organized and very hardworkers. No doubt they will get a heroes welcome on the plane back.
Holland had some luck today it must be said. I'm not one of those who believe in a screw job theory and I can't blame the refs really for the second Dutch goal. No way most ref's would have caught that and is another reason for FIFA to crawl out of the cave on the subject of technology. Some will argue that the Dutch had some bad luck also. The way I see it, Robben, once again, missed way too many oppurtunities. He can be a nice player to watch with the ball at his feet but once it leaves, it's most likely not ending up where it should.
Oh btw, I hope Germany don't win tommorow. :p |

I totally agree - Robben tries WAY too hard IMO
He is fast, can handle the ball well, but I feel like he hogs it too much and when he's close to the net he just never connects with the ball like a player of his 'calibre' should...he should've put at least 2-3 balls in teh back of the net |
