I generally cheer on whatever team beats the one I want to win most because that way at least you lost to the champs. (This, of course, assuming they won fairly) |

| I know a lot of you are going to think this is very egotistical (I'm going to get that no matter what I say about Germany) but I really can't see how Mueller would have made any difference. NO German player played anywhere near as well as they did in the previous matches because they didn't have the ball. If he had played and klose hadn't it would have been "well if Klose would have played..." and so on. Ozil, Schweinstieger, Klose, Lahm (he couldn't even leave his own half), Podolski... none of them could have done anything. The best thing for this generation is they have made it to the second last step and can build from there instead of having to start from zero. |

Indeed, soccer fans are too harsh and too critical, to the point where they act like they hate their own teams for doing well! Need to be more cordial like the Leafs fans!
I think Germany played well, but I agree with Spaniard - the reason they lost the game is because Spain controlled the ball possession, which they are good at (if you watched the whole tournament). This means that German superstars never had the chance to set anything up or get their game going. It threw off their game, out of sync, for sure. But they played very solid defense, and had some (limited) chances to score.
Thats the difference. Dutch, on the other hand, have the most consistent offense in the tournament, they can generate chances at any time - judging by what I've seen so far. They have so many offensive weapons, and a strong corner play, with header goals. Height is a factor, for sure.
I think that if the Dutch can make the brilliant use of their limited ball time in the final game, they can break the Spanish no problem. Spain will not score more than 1 goal, very unlikely, MAYBE 2. Their game is ball possession, but they will have to upp their defense for the final game, or else Dutch will sneak in couple goals.
I'd say 2-1 Netherlands win ... although I originally predicted a 1-0 Spanish win before the tournament began.
