I can't bring myself to leave for work..... I think i'll work from home today.
I just hope that everyone on the Pacific coastlines get the evacuation warnings in time, I mean, it's nighttime that side of the world, right?

8.9 is huge for any country. Honestly, if an 8.9 quake hit here in LA, I don't even think our building codes are up to snuff for that level of shaking. Japan is pretty much the only place "prepared" for it.
Tsunamis are something you can't even prepare for, though, you just have to get out of its way. Scary stuff.

Try and get in touch with him mate, but I guess you're already doing that.
And yeah, I'm worried for all the small pacific islands, like the ones in French Polynesia and stuff. Some have maximum heights above sea level of less than 2/3 metres, not even that!
They won't stand a chance if warnings don't get to them in time :(
