I honestly would have liked to have seen a different Archbishop or Cardinal in the debate. I felt like there was certainly a language barrier there. I thought his heavy accent made a bit hard at times to understand, and that there were certain parts of the debate where he seemed to have some difficulty expressing himself clearly and concisely.

The atheist side of the argument certainly won the debate if it was a measure of eloquence. I think the debate would have been better served to have some more well-spoken proponents of Catholicism on the other side of it.

This is so gross a misconception it's not even funny.

For starters, social life as a whole was completely altered because of the fall of the Roman Empire. And, while Europeans were busy locking themselves up in feudal life, Arab scholars were elaborating the knowledge developed by the Greeks - and that's what made the Renaissance possible. Also, there was a lot of work being done in Christian Europe during the middle ages, such as the creation of the first universities.

In short, that's bollocks.

I'm not on to you, Var. I'm on to anyone unfairly depicting religion.

And, for that matter, unfairly depicting science :)
