They're really not, to be completely honest. You actually can have a debate. You can't debate with Nou. He doesn't listen, and it will inevitably just boil down to him insulting people.

True. Redd, honestly, while I completely appreciate your dedication to self-criticism, I think you're better than you think at communicating in English. Nou gets shat on because of the conceits in his declarative language. He offers his sentiments in language which presumes that there is nothing wrong with his position. There is a rhetorical finality to them which begs for flamage. Never mind the fact that there is absolutely no room for tolerance and the fact that his posts are just downright offensive. I've seen Nou have reasonable conversations about topics there is a disagreement on, but his hard line, here, just attracts the subsequent inventories of his deficits.

i don't post on these topics anywhere near as religiously (ha!) as i used to. most of that restraint i can thank craig for, his logic and defence of theism has moderated my stance quite a lot.

but lira's ongoing faggotry could completely undermine all that.

If that means you're going to point out any flaws in my argument, be my guest :disbelief

Really? How so?

Because its whole premise is MAGICAL BEARDED GUY IN THE SKY and DO YOU BELIEVE IN PINK PONIES WHO RIDE ON RAINBOWS because if you believe in A CLOUD ELEPHANT MAGICAL NOODLE MONSTER it's just ridiculous because that illogical thought DOMINATES YOU AS A PERSON.

/cue profound misunderstanding of spirituality and its inexorable presence in the human condition

I saw a post on Buddhism posted here. Actually there is something to hate about Buddhism in that it is passive. Japanese Zen Buddhist around 10 million supported militarism and provided idealistic justification for it.

Zizek says it better:

I'm not a fan of western Buddhism, but I like Buddhism overall.

Also, great post Lira. ;)

Religion doesn't deserve the blame for any of the ills in this world and, at the same time, neither the credit for all the good.

VAR
religion is the worst thing ever in this world,
belief in spirituality and a higher-being,
probably the best.
