Get it out of your head that this is Jews Vs Arabs.
Its Radical Islam vs Everybody else.
When some Hamas sends a rocket, how does he know where it will hit? he can hit a Badawi,an Arab-Israeli,a Druze or even a Phillipino, but he does not give a ladies and gentelmen, all he cares about is doing this for his own sick spiritual satisfaction.
Jews\Christians\Buddhists\normal people know how to forgive, negotiate and move the on, these people on the other hand are seriously disturbed.
It got nothing to do with Israel or its 1km settlements (stupid Obama philosophy...), its about the fantasy in which these people are living and it doesn't matter if they are living in Gaza,Syria,Belgium or Sweden - they are always the victim and its their job to clean this world of infidels.
I mean seriously, how can you negotiate with someone who thinks its alright to kill his own daughter because of some religious bull? |

What good will that do? in 1948 they were obviously not happy with these borders why should they be now?
After Israel's last attempt to withdraw from some territories the Hamas responded with a gazillion missiles.
Even if you are right from a moral standpoint you still fail at giving a solution here.
And all you did with your last sentence there was showing regret that the Hamas didn't have more destructive weaponry, classy. |

because territorial rights and that have nothing in common. But if you want to call hands, i think you will find what the USA and Israel meet and exceed said brutalities except with a much higher body count, no possible claim to ignorance and an overall moral indifference. |

Most Israelis don't give a about those ty territories you are so passionate about (and the Palestinians too believe it or not,they are not really on a quest to dominate a few towns the size of 2 football fields).
If those were the problem we had peace years ago.
Remember that a few decades ago Israel gave Sinai back to the Egyptians after she concurred it in war Egypt declared in the first place, Sinai is a land the size of Israel rich with tourism and oil.
And don't compare the Israeli state of mind to the average radical Islamist, why does Israel use smart bombs? why did Assad kill more of HIS OWN PEOPLE IN THE PAST YEAR than the Israelis killed in all of their wars against the Palestinians? |

I would use the term withdrawal loosely. Military positions largely unchanged with the buffer zone conveniently taking up space on the side that is not theirs. And it isn't hard to see that this marginal concession slows the overall process which under international law is still an illegal occupation.
Regarding Hamas sending missiles. Consider the fact they once again broke international law in their attack on lebanon same year and days apart of the implementation of the withdrawal and that there were freedom fighter groups inside the palestine area. And talking about number of projectiles is somewhat pointless. Start counting bodies and it tends to show how is really getting hurt.
You didn't ask for a solution so why i'm expected to give one ...
But i would probably be paraphrasing most of what Chomsky has already said. So

2 football fields that Israel has no legal claim to have influence over. So in terms of international affairs, the fact that a country can impede the sovereignty of another despite being declared illegal is somewhat a big ing deal. |
