It's mostly the second. If it wasn't concealed, an attacker could sneak up behind you and steal your gun and use it against you.

Which happens a lot of the times anyways.

Clearly you could set a whole building on fire with a lighter. You can only kill one person with a hydra shock bullet.
good point GUNS DON'T KILL PPL BULLETS DO!

Speaking of concealed weapons;

wouldn't not carrying any weapon on you at all be a safer bet, if the concern was that someone might get a hold of it and misuse it? why reduce the likelihood of something bad happening when you can make it impossible to happen in the first place, is what i'm sayin.

A lot of people would agree with that, myself included.

I still don't think any handguns should be legal, simply for the fact that they're concealable. You can't really conceal a 12 gauge shotgun. And it provides more effective defense of your home than a pistol anyways. A shotgun can be an effective deterrent without ever having to shoot someone with it. In fact, you can scare someone off with a shotgun without it being loaded, and without them even having to see it.

I agree with you.

But the handgun was a gift after some insane guy chased me out of my workplace one night. I had to flee out a window, hahaha. It was snowing heavily outside, and the bar across the street had ejected him an hour prior for groping women and spitting in peoples drinks - their bouncers held him down the entire time, waiting for the cops to arrive, but they never came. When I called them they said they'd be there in 5 minutes, but it took them more like 20, and the guy had gotten in a cab to the airport while I was hiding in some bushes out front. :stongue:

I don't know what the guy would have done to me if he'd broken down the door, but it's not fun feeling trapped like that. I wish I'd had a gun, though what I'd done with it probably wouldn't have made my life better.

Mentally ill dude killed his father in NJ. Killed his mom in Conn., then killed the kids and finally staff and himself. Guns were registered to his mother.

Shocking, read quickly at work one was killed, many were injured, but this...
Although it happens frequently it's shocking every time and even more when children are involved :(
