Is anyone surprised considering how ridiculously easy it is to get a gun in the states and the power trip americans have over gun ownership? These weapons are handed out like flyers from club promoters in USA.
Equally important gun owners routinely fail to properly secure them allowing a family member access, who unintentionally/intentionally shoots themselves or someone else. In this case the guns were owned by the mother.

I'm taking both Valium and Vicodin right now but I am still ing pissed that my gun rights are in jeopardy because of it.
I can barely contain my unmitigated rage without donning BDU and shining up my Mossberg 590a1 with gun oil after a three hour long session of reload practice!

that makes perfect sense from a secular perspective. I'm glad you think that way. you know this society is messed up when it promotes the idea that kindness is a weakness and you have to get even with pointless comebacks and insults.

Show me a peer-reviewed study that correlates violent offenders with having a greater number of prescriptions for opiates, xanax, or valium than that of the general, non-violent population of patients having the same prescriptions. Otherwise this (provision in the law - no reflection on you) is speculative bull.

Between 2004 and 2011, there have been over 11,000 reports to the U.S. FDA’s MedWatch system of psychiatric drug side effects related to violence. These include 300 cases of homicide, nearly 3,000 cases of mania and over 7,000 cases of aggression. (Note: By the FDA’s own admission, only 1-10% of side effects are ever reported to the FDA, so the actual number of side effects occurring are most certainly higher.)
This could be bull though. I just googled medicine and violence.

I'd rather that provision be in the law than not, personally.

Although the drug laws in our country can be quite ed up, I doubt those sorts of drugs would interfere with a gun permit.
My dad has prescriptions for both of those and more, and holds an FFL.
It has to have more to do with people who take antipsychotics that would be at severe risk of a break were they to suddenly go off their medication.

Valium should absolutely be considered. It's used to treat people with panic disorders. I wouldn't exactly want someone prone to panic attacks to own a handgun.

I think the tendency is to find a scapegoat for incomprehensible violence rather than understanding the cause. If it's not Grand Theft Auto or Marylin Manson then Zoloft must be to blame. It's stupid.
