Hopefully you wont listen in winamp to get the answer and use that shabby quicktime player instead :)

I will enter but only if the deadline is reasonable, that long is unreasonable for me, I'd be too impatient and most likely forget about it. A sense of urgency is a good incentive to get it done. I'm also not fond of the acapella, I was expecting it to be dry, but it's got both reverb and delay already applied.

I only said those things because I wanted this competition to be good for a change, not to bash it. In the past 80% of the people who originally signed up never ended up submitting their entry, and the deadline had a lot to do with it.

You simply cannot please everybody, if you've got other projects at hand then perhaps you should consider not entering, or if you really want to, you could put off those projects and devote time to the competition instead.

I'm sorry I have to disappoint you, but I immediately heard, that test_b was the one with 128 KBit. I used mplayer2 to play the mp3s and the first one sounded quite good but I just heard the difference to the second one. Only then I looked at the bitrate and saw I was right... :P

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying 128 is godly quality, the point I was getting across is that its GOOD ENOUGH to be able to judge the quality of a track. Think about the number of entires there are currently, 37, estimate the average track length to be 7 minutes at 192kbps, that's roughly 10 megs per file. 37 x 10 = 370 megs.

That's a lot of data for the judges to download and depending on the number of judges there are (4-5 like in the past) that's almost 2 gigs worth of bandwidth, which does not include any downloads from the contestants. I don't know how much bandwidth the host can handle but thats a lot.

... but I was saying that 160 would be enough ;)

Sure, with 192 it's bigger, I didn't deny that, but 128 is just crappy. If you've had a stronger bassline in your example you'd run away. And the remixers surely don't do all the work to have a MP3 which sounds terrible ;)
kewlness
about the tempo
i tried 141 bpm and it seems to work a lot better than 132 for me (with a few minor adjustments)

just thought u guys might wanna try 141

There won't be 37 entries, though. Not if the previous competitions are anything to go by.

38 tracks is indeed quite a lot to judge.. but i'm looking forward to it nonetheless!

DC, PLEASE stop moaning about the competition, if you dont like the tune/how its organised..............dont take part! Simple as that really! You obviously dont want this competition to go through, otherwise you wouldnt complain at everything, at every opportunity. I dont want to start any trouble here, but I feel that your being very unfair to the other 37 people that DO want to go on with this competition.
