the whole idea of this is to make it not easy i.e. a challenge, if you want an easy track to remix then this comp aint for u :) i think the fact that we have a track to work with in the fist place will sort the men out from the boys :D |

Sure, with 192 it's bigger, I didn't deny that, but 128 is just crappy. If you've had a stronger bassline in your example you'd run away. And the remixers surely don't do all the work to have a MP3 which sounds terrible ;) |
I'm not really sure what this is supposed to mean, seeing how mp3 compression affects mostly the highs.
And 37 potential entries still equals roughly 310 megs, but the judges are willing to download that much then I don't care.
And since you all seemed to have ganged up on me, it just gives me further motivation to actually enter. So consider me in.

Well, It affects firstly highs and lows you can't hear and the lower the compression is, the more highs and lows are compressed. The problem with techno is that the bassdrum often sounds crappy - if u know what I mean ;)
I didn't gang up on u (why should I?) I just told you that the quality with 128 KBit is bad ;) |

I don't want to turn this into an argument but your information is completely inaccurate. Here's an image of a spectrum analysis of 3 sound sources, one is the original wav, the other two are 128kbit and 192kbit compressed mp3s.
