well.. whats somewhat weird about that email they sent me is all the spelling mistakes.. and also i cannot find.. "Jeremy Gothis, -Subpoenal Issual Administrator, RIAA" anywhere on the RIAA site.. nor on searches on msn and google.
im so confused and pissed. |

theres spelling mistakes and you can't find out who the person is?
were you given any contact information?
it said not to reply from the sender since it was "automated"
somebody may just be ing with you so you may have nothign to worry about :D |

well looking at the thread and the email he recieved, i dont think its from the riaa because of the spelling mistakes, and the fact it says its a automated email. look for the senders ip adress in the email header then put it into http://eamnesia.com/hostinfo/ipinfo.jsp
to find out who owns that ip. imm pretty sure if its from the riaa it will belong to them as they can afford their own mail server etc, if tis from a isp etc its more likely to be a fake

Ok, this is why i think you should ignore the email.
The riaa DO send out automated emails to people sharing things with certain words in them. I know this for a fact, there was a mag article about it recently. The fact is they make mistakes!
The automated system cant tell if you are sharing an amatuar remix/mislabeled file. It simply searches for copyrighted/riaa group names, then sends the email.
You had full permission from endre, who made the mix. The email is void, it's a mistake. The guy in the mag article angrily called the riaa, and ended up with a full backdown, letter of apology etc.
Further to that, they werent talking about our comp. We are upping AMATUAR UNSIGNED mixes...
i say we ignore it. You havent done anything wrong...you arent at risk, seriously.
We'll need to postpone the closing date either way, due to the upload server going down, and the ensuing confusion... |
