Matrix Revolutions (pg. 7)

Spoilers...as if you wouldn't expect that in a thread like this...
I think the story of the Matrices works effectively, what I disliked about Revolutions is the same thing that I disliked about Reloaded and SW: Attack of the Clones, the computer rendering of the one on one fights makes the film look ridiculously fake.
The Neo vs. Smith flying at insane speeds while dueling it out in the city was shades of the Yoda lightsabre duel in AotC and Neo vs. the 500 Smiths in Reloaded...the speed with which it's happening and the over the top animation just looks incredibly fake to me, and in 20 years I'm sure we'll all look back on the way it was done as unreal and dated.
I like the mythology and story of the Martrix trilogy, I could do with less of the judeo-christian feel, but overall I think it works nicely, but from a visual standpoint I think it could have been done much more effectively.
Have to love the rainy Matrix world of Agent Smith though, the setting, music, and bystandard Smiths made for an epic final battle, I just wish it hasn't devolved into the high speed Superman duel on crack... |

I liked the film very much...it entertained me, i liked the effects, and the story was OK.
By pondering over questions that cannot be directly answered makes people angry and then they begin to dislike the film.
One thing that i didnt really appreciate was that Neo could "see" evertything even though he was blind. I think that was bull and farfetched. What makes him biologically prone to see like that.
That is why i thought there was a 2nd matrix, becuase that would be the only plausible explaination.
But nothing beats the sheere brilliance of the first Matrix.
I do beleive that films 2 and 3 could have been made better, but unfortunately in Hollywood executive producers are also directors on the set. |

Thats why he only saw the machines and not anything else.
They were all connected and they could all sense each other..
Still I think people are wanking to much about this film.
They putt a lot of effort in it and I enjoyed the action as well as the psyhological part..
People just talked too much about this film, and after spending hunderds of hours thinking about it (go do somehting usefull!) they will be dissapointed by this one.
Of course the first one was a classic but I enjoyed this one just as much, but in a different way. |
So he's a piece of the software, but could still "see" the machines? What does that make him, wireless? |

| this still hasnt expalined it for me. Last time i checked, NEo was human and wasnt a piece of software. His body was pulled out of the pink capsule. |

| Although all reports suggest that Matrix Revolutions is the end of the line for this series, a movie reviewer suggested today in an article that the movie leaves open the possibility for a fourth instalment. What he went on to say is that even this movie seems to have the same mystique as Reloaded. That is, not everything seems to be perfectly resolved as people seem to be expecting. Note, I don't actually think another film will be made since the producers, directors, actors have all been adamant that this is the end. But what seems to be disappointing is that the movie may not have come "full circle" as I expected. I watched an interview last night with Keanu Reeves and Jada Pinkett-Smith in Sydney. They were saying how the movie can be interpreted in a number of ways and there is not a single answer to every riddle. Having said this, maybe the fact that Revolutions does not answer all questions means that it will be a recurring case of everyone discussing the movie over and over until they finally realise, "Hey, I think I need to watch the film once again." Maybe this sort of plot makes the movies more intriguing in the first place. So my question to you is, "Would you rather that the movie resolves everything or are you happy to be left with an ending that maybe leaves you slightly in the lurch... leaving some questions unanswered?" |

| i have not read this thread nor have i seen the movie, but i'm so planning on watching it tomorrow and OMG, i'm so excited like a horny schoolgirl! |

Ok you want spoilers, I'll give you spoilers ...
SPOILERS
Ok in the beginning Neo is still in his stupid coma with human agent smith. Supposedely he's in this "in between" world between the matrix and the real world ... something of a construct of sorts I guess. To get out he has to convince the "trainmaster" or whoever he is to let him out. I'm trying to figure out if this is some crude attempt to allude to charon or not. So Trinity and company go convince that boring french guy to get him out ... blah blah blah ... fine they get him out. Then neo and trinity need to take a hovercraft topside to the machine city while morpheus and crew head back to zion. Human smith hides in hovercraft and has battle scene with Neo where Neo goes blind. BUT somehow he still manages to see stuff with matrixvision. Anyway, I still don't get how smith was able to transfer himself over to bain ... or how neo can even see stuff in general ... he doesn't just see machine stuff, he also sees a little bit of the surrounding environment too.
Then IN the matrix itself, things get all ed up as smith starts taking control of everything ... even the Oracle. But, before that the Oracle says that the architect is there to create order ... to keep things in control. She is there to create disorder and to upset the balance of the equation such that the whole function of the matrix is disrupted. Therefore, you get the idea that since Neo is the architecht's creation to ultimately restore order in the matrix, agent smith is the ORACLE's creation to disrupt order. That's basically the entire philosophy of the one crap ... Neo is the one and smith is his opposite. Ultimately, the goal of the oracle is to end things one way or another ... so either Neo wins by destroying agent smith or smith destroys the matrix and then destroys everything in the real world by infected the machines. Ultimately in the end, Neo gets to hte machine city (after trinity dies thank god) and tells the machines that they've lost control of smith. SO they strike a bargain to achieve peace between humans and machines. Neo will take care of smith and machines will stop killing humans (thank god this is after trinity has already died ... dumb bitch). So, yadda yadda yadda, big fight scene between smith and neo. Atomic shock waves going off all over the place ... gets tedious after the 5th shockwave, yea I get the idea ... and finally in the end, Smith gives neo a good beatdown and has envisioned his own victory. And he says something like "everything that has a beginning, has an end". So he starts to infect Neo who gets taken over, but then remember the christ+anti-christ cancel each other out ... and smith dies with the matrix restored. I could go into furhter detail but that's basically it. |

Thanks Occ. I actually got the gyst of the majority of what you wrote here from other spoiler sites. What I'm interested in, however, is this "mysterious" ending. What's so difficult about the last couple of minutes, or the last scene more specifically? Furthermore, does that "kid" who follows Neo around everywhere in Reloaded play a role in the ending (in accordance to one particular spoiler website)?

I think it's good that it left some loose ends. From the beginning, I was expecting normal, down-to-Earth ending which would suggest to the viewer to assume a few things on his own. I really don't get why people are so pissed that it didn't tie everything together. Has any Matrix movie given us a full, non-BS answer on something? Hell no. This went out in a similar fashion that the others. This movie was was "THE END" of the war, of Neo's "mission", this wasn't meant to be a laundry list of philosphical explanations and major plot twists to leave the viewer thinking "ok, what the is going on?"
I think too many people hate this movie because it didn't give them what they wanted. And second, people who hate it for all the cheesey bull. Part 1 was full of it as well. |

no he doesn't play any significat role in the ending. He just helps one of the ships get inside the Zion dock so they can blow an EMP when all the machines are inside.
When Smith beats down Neo at the very end, he takes over him like he tried to do before. But just before that happend, he goes on to say how he has seen this before (like Occrider said), but then wasn't sure. I think this had something to do with the fact that he took over the Oracle. Anyways, he takes over Neo, and then they show the Source gives the real-world Neo a few shocks to kill him while he's jacked-in, and in turn kill Smith. Thats what I got from it at least.
Then it returns into the Matrix; shows the code being changed via the black cat/deja vu. The Oracle and Architect talk for a bit about how long the peace will last and so on and then it ends. No stupid "10 years later" bull showing how humans and machines are living in harmony bla bla bla. |
