a little something about those early 90's teams though: steinbrenner wasnt in control during that time...he was suspended..but when he came back he was a different person and looked at things in a different perspective, and it trickled on down to the results on the field...
with that said, correct me if im wrong, but werent the mets in 95 blessed with the same type of talent?? they had pulsipher, isringhausen, paul wilson, rey ordonez, and jay payton...all, for the exception of isringhausen (in a different role i might add), didnt live up to expectations...
so with the mets farm situation, i say chill out until they get called up and play a few months in the majors...

back then, the mets were retards. izzy pitched 240 innings in the minors. roughly the same with the other two. rey ordonez is arguably one of the best defensive SS's in the game. edgardo alfonzo jumped straight up from double a into the majors. jay payton was decent, but never did live up to his expectations. it happens. i am the eternal optimist in everything. for example, i should be so negative about reyes being hurt still, but now danny garcia gets a shot to play. i think he'll play well enough to boost his trade value. pick up a nice reliever. :tongue2
and steinbrenner wasnt running the team. THATS why the yankees were so good. filled with home grown talent. do you think steinbrenner has the same outlook now? nope. he'll still think he can win when bernie is 39, jeter is 35, etc.
on a quick sidenote, despite mariano's 0.59 era and 9 straight saves, i honestly think he's losing it. yeah, he has 13 strike outs in 15 1/3 innings, but he has hit 3 batters already this year, compared to 4 all of last year. also in those 15 innings, he has issued 7 walks and 10 hits. that is very un-mariano like. just something i've noticed. |

well first off, he's 34...he has about maybe 5 good years left in him...looking at him this past sunday doesnt show any signs of him slowing down whatsoever...its funny how you look at Mariano's numbers and say he's losing it, but Joe Table's numbers (which are better than Mo's at this point) and he's experiencing a "renaissance"; and he's 37...cmon man...this is exactly why i dont like forming opinions early in the season...
this is also coming from the same mentality that said the entire yanks team is losing it...and im sorry, what just happened this past week?? 6 - 0?? torre's 800th win?? giambi with a 1.36 OPS??!!! please...i laugh at you...ha ha ha.... |

welll....i never went! i was in brooklyn for a barbecue and couldn't get my ass out of my friend's backyard. i had a great time but i regret giving up those box seats! if only i had had my car. but oh well... there are more games and more box seats! |
