youre kidding me, right?? *cough*mattingly*cough
well first off, he's 34...he has about maybe 5 good years left in him...looking at him this past sunday doesnt show any signs of him slowing down whatsoever...its funny how you look at Mariano's numbers and say he's losing it, but Joe Table's numbers (which are better than Mo's at this point) and he's experiencing a "renaissance"; and he's 37...cmon man...this is exactly why i dont like forming opinions early in the season...

dude, first off you just said you don't like to form opinions early int he season. well... you just did that.
anyway, what does torre's 800th win have to do with anything? and the 6 - 0 is what they SHOULD have been doing all along. that's all i'm saying. there's no doubt in my mind that they will finish 1st or 2nd this year. but in a few years, they will still be contractually linked to giambi, mariano, jeter, bernie... all of whom are only getting older. and they're all getting more and more money. gimabi = 21 million in 2008. do you HONESTLY think he will be worth 21 million in 2008? he only hit .250 last year. he is not a good defensive first baseman. which means he will be a 21 million dollar DH. the *only* player i would pay 21 million to strictly DH is bonds.
and my point with mariano is that he's starting to look less like the magician he used to be and more like a closer. the new magician in the major's is gagne. |

to see the way baseball should be all the time, you should try and make it to a yankees v. red sox game. or a yankees v. mets game at shea stadium. i say shea because usually the stadium is 55% mets fans and 45% yankees fans. we all get along (for the most part) and joke around. mets fans know its a long shot every year to beat the yanks, but it can happen. and when it does, we lovvvvve it. |

one more baseball post.
the texas muthaf00kin rangers!! they are incredible! their offense (like i've said) is the best in the majors. best infield in the majors hands down, and they're all under 30. what i would LOVE to see more than anything this year in baseball (besides the mets actually having a winning record) is for the rangers to somehow win the AL west. i just think it would be such a great story. the games best player leaves the mariners for the rangers. the rangers have a losing record and the mariners win 116 games. the games best player leaves the sucky texas rangers for the superpower yankees and the rangers pull a division title out of their pockets. even as yankee fans, you gotta admit that would be awesome for baseball. |
