| I think it's deeper than that. As much as many people DO want to change the sound of trance, labels want to go with what sells, and what sells is standard, boring trance. Have you noticed a lot of the unsigned trance here is a lot more interesting to listen to than the crap that rolls of the vinyl assembly line every week? They're basically stuck in a genre that record companies define very narrowly so there's not much artistic freedom. |

While that is true to an extent im pretty damn sure that if you make a creative trance track that pushes the envolope but still sounds very good then some1 out there will sign it.
i mean if that track that was playing on the envio site is his new house tune then all he has done is moved from one forumlaic sound to another. |

| and that by definition is selling out. where you let money rule your creativity. they are not doing anything creative becuase they are more concerned about getting money from their lable then doing something good. this is why i belive strongly in ruining your own lable so that you can realease many things of all variation without worrying about compliants from record lables. or realease multple mixes of tracks and not relying on another artist to create a mix that make your track good. |

Yea I produce trance tracks that push the melodic form into something totaly new with a great sound- but do i get signed??? Not yet. So should i conform to what labels want so i can continue my passion of producing? whatever tho, i'm still gonna continue doing it even after i drop out of university and am working part time at safeway trying desperately to pay- back my student loans till I can afford to copy 2,000 cds and go sell them around shoping malls and retarded stuff like that... whoo- music has definately given me a bright future :( |

Just because many people make trance doesn't mean that it should be a reason to stop. Let people try making tracks, express their creativity, if anything it will give us a bigger pool of talent to draw from, and let even better music be commercially released.
And hey trancevision, I havnt seen you in awhile :D |

I agree with ZxZDeViLZxZ in that airbase has been pumping out basically the same type of style.
I really find a lot of the things that Airbase produce are quite the generic type of trance. While, it may be good, it is just generic.
Too many people are trying to sound like the typical ASOT type sound, and I think it's good that more and more people are trying to do something else as I myself am getting really tired of that typical sound. |

well to begin with both envio and airbase tracks allways sound the same. so no shock they are changing their styles i mean.. airbase tracks have had the same sound for the past 2 or 3 years and his melodys have been slacked and his remixes have been slacked aswell. and well envio is total crap imo..... its only natural progression that will change what people do personally to say that your just going to stop doing one genre becuase your bored of it really is lacking in your creativity department. i mean i personally cant produce any genre of music for but what i call attempting to produce i dont just wanna stick to the normal boundry most of my projects dont fit into any one genre with variations everywhere on everything.
so really come on there will allways be an active change and everyone wille ventually get tired of the sound that youve been beating to death for the past years.... trance is trance the fact that so many newcomers to it will listen to anyhting just for the sake of that a well known producer produced it or even becuase someone played it that they think is awesome and this creates a false impression of what good tracks are. most trance tracks ive heard at 90% out of the 50 or so new tracks a week only 1 if that would be any good imo. but this holds true to all genres. so thinking just becuase its edm or trance even for taht matter should mean anyhting differntly is slightly ludicris |
good words my friend! |
