Its somekind of "evolution" we are seeing here... trance is evolving.. and yea i personally think that trance is starting to kill itself. Its sad really, i love trance... but very much sounds the same these days.. not much is original.

I guess we have to wait and see what happens next..

if trance is evolving into house, i'll put a bullet through my head.

2. It's no suprise that some of the more well known producers are changing genres. As much as I enjoy trance, it is somewhat of a drab and even childish genre suited to young adults. Sure I produce mainly trance now, but in 10 years when I'm about 30, I will undoubtably move on to more artistic/respectable genres such as classical and new age.
...

For years I listened to pop/rock then moved across to listening to classical which I still listen to a lot these days. Then about a year ago at the age of 56 (I'm 57 now) I came across trance and thought wow I like this and have been listening ever since. Who knows which way my tastes will take me in the future. :whip:

i think that trance it's dieing .
i have thousand of track in my hard disk and on cd ...and all sounds the same all sounds that typical asot style and that's not good at all .
Now making music with the pc it's becoming a fashion ,everyone try to do it .The programs are also much more easier to use ...just give a look to reason there are thousand of rns throghut internet where people could learn how to make a track and remake it with his personally music skills...what i want to say it's that trance like every genere evolves in the years and changes and now it's on a bad period where people like to listen all the same tracks and try to remake it too ...The problem of the trance it's also it's easy structure ...people that have listened trance for more then 3 years have listened it in every type and it's now bored of the usual tracks...
i think ...we should keep listening to our old good trance songs ...and leave the commercial tracks where them are ...

sorry for my bad english

I wonder which are these 'real 90s' trance tracks?
TranceZoner
Yup.....:(

I've been saying it for some time now, Trance is going through a bad fase right now....
Anyway, i think Trance is not dead by a long shot, solemnly because of the fact that is has not even shown his true face to the big publics, in other words, real Trance is still so underground, especially in the USA, Southern-America etc. etc. Most of the people I know, don't even know what real Trance sounds like, although they think they do so.

Furthermore:
Is it really that bad, that Trance tracks always sound the same??
Every genre needs its own distinctive recognitable sounds, right??
Maybe Trance is not dying at all and maybe it will change, but it just takes some time to do so...
I know it's not cool that many tracks have the same sound and feel to them, but maybe Trance also has cycles like, for example, the economy has them. Good times and bad times, and maybe Trance will get better, maybe it's just a bad fase now!

Cheers

I feel Just like very other genre of music out there, rock/pop/hiphop etc there are tons of producers, and for someone to quit becuase everyone in the world is producing trance now a days is bs, I think airbase just lost his creativity.
DJ_Ikronix
There isn't an excess of producers just because there's a board full of them.

Trance isn't dying because two guys' musical interests changed.

There's no malicious plot by ID&T, Black Hole, and ASOT to squash trance where it stands.

I wonder how trance will evolve...

Real trance was made with Hardware... software cant compete.. its like driving a plane or car simulator..

the use of warez and downloading of tracks have also been alot of the reason, Airbase is probably pissed cause Trancemaster aint selling much more....

It's the man behind who makes the sound :D <-- I am expecting this argument soon. I fully agree with you, older tunes just sound often much better . Analog gear ...

As per usual it's nice to see the usual 'Trance is dying' comments
According to the doom & gloom merchants, trance has been dying since the end of '99 - but still it rolls on.

2 producers have called it quits, so what? They are sick of the genre, does that mean we should all be sheep and follow their lead ?

NO !

I love trance and I plan to continue producing it.
Who's with me ? :toothless

P.S.
@ those moaning about getting signed:
If your sole purpose to producing for you is just to get signed then maybe the genre is better off without you anyway ! :whip:

Just my $0.2 :p
