Now, If I had a nice jazz band with some nice sax players and good trumpets, thats the kind of stuff that gives me goosebumps listening to :D
I don't think producing music fully on a computer is good enough to call your self a "musician" if thats all you make it on...if you actually do play instruments and use certian *real* instruments for making a song then I'd say youc an call yourself a musician
I play trumpet myself :D | damn right.. trance isn`t music, trance is a feeling... and we all are.... ehm... "feelers" :nervous: |

what is it that you guys want trance to sound like? there's a bunch of songs that sound the same to me.. and it's the ones that are just arps up and down the scale. is it that style of trance that you guys don't like? i'm just trying to understand what is "real trance" cause there's so many different variations of trance. to me, real trance is a track like ligaya. but then at the same time mikes massive motion.. feels like that's what trance should sound like. anyone agree?
what do you guys think trance 'should' sound like. post some track titles for a clearer picture. |

| more energy :D which Is why I listen to nrg and hard house...not a lot of things are the same cheesey ASOT I hear everyday on etn.fm and other radios |

even though i agree to a certain extend that the ASOT type of trance is getting boring, not that much has changed, supersaws, arps, plucked sounds are still being used,i think that's the main reason why people get tired of trance, same old sounds are being used and re used,i think trance has gotten more sophisticated when it comes to the overall sound, techniques etc.,and those who think old trance ownz are people who are stuck in the past,i keep hearing old people say how great the past was, while in fact it sucked just as much as it sucks nowadays, somehow people have a tendency to overappreciate times that are long gone
just my 2cents... |

to be fair thats a ing statement.
not many trance producers that dont know how to play an instrument would call themselves musicians. Its the same argument as saying the DMC people are the best mixers on the planet. Bollox, its a different disipline, simple as. Producing trance might not make u the most musically gifted person on the planet but i dont think any1 claims that and just because someone plays an instrument like a saxaphone or trumpet for jazz by no stretch of the imagination makes them more talanted |

I myself play piano, but if I didn't i wouldn't consider myself any less of a musician.
A musician is defined as one who makes music.
Also, to play an instrument you simply have to master the skill of playing the instrument, and it will always sound good. Producing doesn't guarantee a good sound, you have to work hard at composing melodies AND creating sounds which IMO is a lot more difficult. For me, producing is a lot more labor intensive than playing the piano. |
