Real trance was made with Hardware... software cant compete.. its like driving a plane or car simulator..

oh yeah? how do u explain that producers like me and others who dont use hardware got signed into the big lables?
Hardware\Software AGAIN , it dosent matter which equipment u got (i dont have any hardware and not even monitors or quality soundcard) its how u use it...and there's a fact that many Producers with a good Monitors , Soundcard and a one freakin midi keyboard can produce an excellent piece of TRANCE and if u ask me the people which aint using hardware (Synths) producing quality Trance.

oh really

of course, u can create real descent sound using software, yes I know that.. and get track released.. but those tracks doesnt have the soul and raw sound like the old trance hadd.. u cant create as fat sound with software as u do with hardware, that is just a simple fact... sometimes u do get this "same" sound.. but its mostly generic.. and u barely can develop any new sounds.. u WILL NEVER be able to make the sound that Push have for example.. its physically impossible using software.. and those fat FX sounds.. often used in progressive tracks..

hmm.. yeh.. well he is very good though.. yeah its much harder.. and a lot of people go for presets, and therefore much of the music sounds too generic, and for a lot of die hard trancers who grew mostly up with that hardware sound, doesnt find the software sound too appealing.. plus that software makes hundreds of people making the same sounds.. yes and I am one of those as well.. well, its probably a matter of evolution..

mostly i blame reason for the genric sound. and your right lots of people go straight fopr presets.... only vsti i do that with are fm one because prgramming a fm synth is probly the hardest thing ive ever tried to do. i find they are rather diffcult to get god sounds outta them rather then just random noise. but i still dont use just the preset i still tweak the outta it

I see comments like this all the time. OMGZ, PERSON X THAT USED TO LIKE TRANCE NOW LIKES TECHNO & HOUSE, TRANCE MUST BE DYING!

It's pretty fricken normal for people to get bored of a genre and start listening to other things. In europe I guess most people hear trance as their first genre of electronic music, but in Canada that's not the case at all. The house scene is WAY bigger than the trance scene, and in Montreal specifically the techno scene is also much bigger. Personally I started off listening to house and drum & bass, and ended up discovering trance after that. After listening to trance for a while I started to prefer the sounds of progressive house and tech house, and now tend to be listening to a lot more techno. I too am finding a lot of the typical ASOT stuff to be pretty boring, but I see this as just another revolution of the genre.

In 2001-2002, there was still a lot of 1999 style being made, and people would constantly say "trance isn't going anywhere, it all sounds like the stuff made in '99 except worse". Lo and behold, this ASOT sound pops up and people are hailing it as the next coming of Christ and talkign about how awesome trance is again. Now the ASOT sound is getting boring, so once again people are saying that music is not evolving and all sounds the same. While I can't predict the future, I'd definitely wager to say that trance isn't going to disappear altogether, and that the next movement of it will come along that will blow the standard sound away. Two-three years from now, I'm sure that sound will become tiresome as well, and we'll be seeing these exact same posts again.

As more and more "pure trance" artists start to dabble in other sounds, the genre itself will strengthen as opposed to become weaker. I don't understand how people can say that the genre is not evolving. Just because Tiesto and ASOT aren't evolving, doesn't mean the genre isn't.

BTW Passiva, what would you classify Ava Mea - In The End as? Just because it's not 140bpms doesn't mean it's not trance =P (awesome track btw, love it). IMO, almost everything Markus Schulz plays is "trance", it just has a proggier feel to it.

that is exactly what i would have said if i'd have been arsed to type it

Why r we so worried...??

Why cant a producer do multi genre...?
im still very amatuer in producing... n i love trance since the 90's... N I will always create trance, until someone big (records label, top djs.. etc) admit my song is "TRANCE"!! By that time i will also try to produce Prog House/ Dark Tribal.. because i know how to do a good trance... i will try to experiment others.. try to understand every genre of music n for sure i wont leave trance.... then maybe i will create my own TRANCE! :D :toothless  DOes it make sense? LOL

TRANCE wont die!! from 2000 onwards... Trance is spreading to out the world... may be it is falling in Europe/America.. but it rised in ASIA :stongue: :eyespop: *WTF?* Hahhahahaha
