NFC Wild Card - Green Bay

who knew they would be devastated by Javon Walker and Ahman Green being out for the year and those departures of their 2 interior guards devastated their running game early |

go figure.
like i said before, as much as a jackass michael irvin can be, i will still support him , because he is from the U . ..
just like i would support ken dorsey, craig erickson, gino torreta, steve walsh, and scott covington wherever they go ..
and ray lewis and dan morgan ... what if these two were on the same team, and the team played a 3-4 defense .. :nervous:
also, byron leftwich is gone for the rest of the regular season with a broken ankle ... i don't think he's going to make it to the playoffs .. this guy is a warrior, but i don't think he is enough of a quick healer to come back from this ... if he does, jax better hope david gerrard can hold the fort down , and keep jax in contention to at least get a first round bye, which is probably unlikely .
and is it just me, or is miami not a good team to be playing right now ? their defense is starting to click somewhat, but the ricky williams - ronnie brown combination is starting to get real lethal after every game . ricky is starting to run like ricky, and ronnie is ronnie . 3 of the next 5 are at home (buffalo, jets, titans) which are all winnable, and 2 at san diego (maybe, depending on how miami will stop LT .. saban is smart enough not to give up the rushing yards), and new england ( wouldn't be surprised if this game is going to be do or die for the division lead) .
everything is starting to pan out that the afc leaders will be indy and denver (2 difficult places to play at for a visiting team), and seattle and chicago (2 difficult places to play at for a visiting team ... well i don't know about seattle, but seattle looks tough now with alexander running hard, and key addition joe jurevicius to the team .. really stepping up ) .. wouldn't be surprised if the conference championships would be denver-indy and seattle-chicago |
so your saying the Dolphis defence is better without Zach Thomas????????
we won, thats about it for the Oakland gameI can say, I dont think anything other than Browns and Rickys performance should be commended.
Butters lay off the U and their crimes,we all know nobody has ever actually gotten arrested while goin to the U (not like FSU,who by the way do deserve the crime treatment the U deserves) it was when they were pros. And most of the crimes they were charged of in their pro career were false. The media loves to hype up a story be4 they know the verdict, but once the player is aquitted, the same media attention is not shown towards their innocence, therefore ignorant s only remember prior verdict.
that bein said do u guys think Irviin is saying the truth :p
actualy his "friend" should step up and confess, heh |

it's just a joke (unless if we are talking about the U and FSU alumni combined, then that's a different story ..... ) :)

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the 2nd coming...
Well maybe not. Consider his comeback was against one of the worst defenses (and prob worst team) in the league. Factor in handling the ball off to Steven Jackson and just throwing it up to Holt and Bruce and they'll probably catch it. At least it gives the boot to Jamie Martin though... thanks for the concussion buddy.
I read that his dad is a rocket scientist. So he's actually a disappointment then? Cause look at me, my dad was a drunken gas station attendant. wippeee...
I suspect he'll come back down to earth this week but you always glimmer hope to a grocery store clerk from out of nowhere, rattling off 350 yd, 4 TD games like he was taking candy from a baby. However... elitist Ivy Leaguer and a minimum wage grocery store clerk aren't exactly the same. |

of course, this speaking from an avid rams fan ... ..
can i go out and say ryan fitzpatrick for mvp in 2006 ? ... :nervous:
but i say he comes back to earth next week .. the texans stink .. but if he doesn't stink, yet the rams still lose, then the rams could potentially have their quarterback of the future .. bulger looks like he isn't getting the job done, and martin is just martin .. the rams need a smart quarterback who makes the smart decisions and a quick thinker .. hey .. he's from harvard, so he looks like a good decision maker and quick thinker .. right ??
but if his dad is a rocket scientist, his mom must be a bulgarian weightlifter or something, because he surely didn't pick up his football throwing genes from his dad ... :nervous: :wtf: |

Fitzpatrick played ok against the Texans, but he's no Craig Krenzel. I think he's simply a fill-in man while the Rams get adjusted and start rebuilding. They have a great core of young players (Steven Jackson, Bulger, Ryan Picket, Brandon Chillar) and look to be set for the next several years at key positions. They need some young wide receivers to learn from playing along side Bruce and Holt; Shaun Mcdonald looks ok, but everyone else is near or over 30.
I think Bulger is doing a good job in St. Louis, but he needs to avoid the injury bug. Martin needs to be jettisoned. Hes a good guy to have if all you're doing is handing off, but hes a poor decision maker with little mobility. Fitzpatrick could be trade bait or he could make Bulger trade bait, depnding on his performence over the rest of the season. A guy I like is Jeff Smoker, a QB they recently brought back to the roster from the practice team. Smoker has great arm strrngth and could develop into a great NFL quarterback with the right tools at his disposal.
St Louis might be playing second fiddle to Shaun Alexander and the Seahawks now, but I wouldn't expect that to continue over the next 2 or 3 years. |

The Harvard kid better light it up this week...
The NFC is awful, I'm now convinced the best team in the NFC are the Seahawks, and that's sad!
When did the NFC become pure crap? |

technically, to tell you the truth, the nfc , as a whole, was always second tier to the afc . yeah yeah .. the nfc dominated the 90s with the 49ers, cowboys, and packers... but if you looked deep into the nfc, there were some average to bad teams on the squad .. but we were duped by the winners of the super bowls .. because of the 90s, the nfc had a slight edge over the afc ..
the afc always had dan marino and the dolphins (although never won the big one, but always competitive), jim kelly and the bills, john elway and the broncos, warren moon and the oilers, the pittsburgh steelers defense, and other quality afc teams that could beat nfc teams ..
i think the tide shifted towards the afc the year the rams won the super bowl . and solid draft picks have gone in favor of the afc ..
but i think the nfc can come back in the future with these quality wideouts coming up ... cant list players right now, but later i will . |

The two conferences are tied 17-17 from since the merger (Super Bowl V). Including the first 4, they are 19-19. I don't know about the 60's or 70s, but I bet the NFL was better overall than the AFL for the first 10 years or so. The Bears and the Giants tore it up in the 80s, but both only won one super bowl. Detroit and Green Bay consistantly played well too. In the late 90s, The Packers were in their heydey, Tampa's defense was relentless and the Niners and Cowboys clashed every year.
This year, the AFC is kind of crappy, but they're probably going to win the Super Bowl with Indianapolis. I don't think there is a defense in the league that can stop them, just like no one could stop Montana and the Niners or Bradshaw and the Steelers. I know defenses play a huge role, but when your team can light up the scoreboard with 35 at any time, your defense doesn't have to play nearly as well as when you can only get 17 on the board.
Things go in shifts and the NFC will rise once again, probably when Clevelnad is winning the AFC North. BTW If you guys missed the quip, Braylon Edwards is out for the year
Some of the recivers I thought of off the top of my head:
Jeremy Shockey
Anaquin Boldin
Larry Fitzgerald
Charlie Rogers
Roy Williams
Mike Williams
Michael Clayton
Michael Jenkins
Koren Robinson |
