new england comes close, but not enough against miami. looks like new england vs jacksonville, and cincy vs pitt. 1 great game while the other looks like a no contest.
giants win their game, while the redskins are struggling against those pesky eagles. panthers rollover and scalp the falcons alive while the bucs needed their defense to beat the saints. looks like the giants will play against the bucs, and panthers will play against the redskins, likely .
the wild card looks like a good weekend for all of use guys and gals ..
and if i had to choose a team that has the best chances to beat an afc team in the super bowl, i choose the bears. as much as their offense does stink, i can't bet against their defense. the bears defense looks almost, but not better, than the ravens when they won the super bowl. |

some interesting thing to note about the bears defense :
1st in total defense
9th against the run
3rd against the pass
1st in points allowed
2nd in fewest 1st downs allowed
2nd in lowest 3rd down % / 2nd in most 3rd down attempts (shows something there)
18th in penalties allowed (111)
1st in passing rating (58.1)
4th in rushing avg (3.5)
34 takeaways (the good) . 28 giveaways (the ugly)
and during all their home games, they have given up the following points ( 6(win vs det), 24(loss vs cincy), 3(win vs minny), 6(win vs balt), 9(win vs san fran), 3(win vs carolina), 7(win vs green bay), and 3(win vs atlanta) ) .. some of these opponents are granted crappy, but those wins against carolina and atlanta arent, and green bay and brett favre always come to play when they go to chicago.
so i am going to put all my chips in , and say chicago for the super bowl. i think seattle will get upset by the redskins, and chicago beats down the giants .
bears-redskins nfc championship. :wtf: ... that's old school there .. |

That's a pretty legit pick, butters. Bring back the 80s superbowl champions eh?
Congrats to the Redskins for picking up thier first post-season playoff appearance in 6 years. |

| I was surprised by Green Bay's victory over the Seahawks. A fitting tribute to Brett Favre's career you think? Or will he be back next season? |

The Bears also lost to Cleveland this year :p. Trent Dilfer put up almost 300 yards in the air on that defense. I think the Bears are beatable. Their defense may be as good as the 02 Ravens, but their offense is worse. 14 points would have beaten them eight times this season.
Seattle definitely looks good. Even with the starters on the field, I think the Seahawks could have beaten Indy.
I like Carolina too. They were there a couple years ago and with a lucky break or two, they could be there again. They've got post-season experience and beat Atlanta good to day.
In the AFC, the only team I would really write off is Cincinatti. They are very good, but I don't think they can make the Super Bowl. The Steelers, Pats, Colts, or Broncos could easily make it. I don't think the Jags are going to make it either, but I'd love to see them in the title game with a well-timed upset. In the end, I like the Broncos to take onCarolina in the Super Bowl with Carolina taking home the Lombardi trophy. |

I am officially happy today, Mike Martz was fired. WOOOOO HOOOOOOO!
It was a day to fire the Mikes. Mike Sherman, Mike Tice, and Mike Martz all let go today. Kind of weird.
Favre said he'd leave Green Bay if Mike Sherman was fired. So we'll see about him and if he wants to play for another team next year. |

Mike Tice will probably bounce back and become the offensive line coach for the cardinals
Mike Sherman...possibly Houston would be a good fit for him.
Mike Martz possibly following Vermeil to Kansas city..hmm who knows |

not a good day for the mikes ... i guess they need some "mike and ike's" to help soothe the soul .. hahahaha ...
let's see ..
mike martz
mike sherman
mike tice
dom capers
dick vermeil
all let go / left on the same weekend .. wow ! shows how much competition there is in the nfl .. if you don't do well, then you get the donald trumped .. "you're fired!" ..
but i think martz was let go, because of health issues, rather than his performance .. i don't want to sound like some kind of mike martz lover, but i think their problem is their defense . they need a legit def coordinator . they havent been the same since lovie smith left for the bears . i hear *cough cough* gregg williams *cough cough* is available .. he's def coordinator with the redskins . |

mike tice reuniting with dennis green is a great idea, and i think he can help arizona with their what is lack of running game .
mike sherman could teach david carr (if he's still there) a few old tricks ..
and i don't think the chiefs fans would like martz in k.c. ... it's bad enough he wore out his welcome on the east side of missouri .. now the west side of missouri also ? no. |
