again i don't think there is a scientific reasoning. and yeah there isn't a scientific explanation for everything we do but this discussion is about homosexuality and it's scientific validity.

first of all, there is no relavant bigger picture than the one i described.

from the way you phrase it (which is a bit cluttered btw, explaining the lack of a response to your actual question), it seems you are looking for an evolutionary reason for the fact pleasure can be gained from homosexual sex.

and that was discussed some 5 pages ago or so ;)

to sum it up, or at least a major part of it - population control.

the bigger picture of evolution, yes. maybe i seemed cluttered because i actually wasn't looking for an answer because i know there isn't one. my point was that homosexuality is a biological mystery. it serves no biological benefit other than the over-extended theory of population control (which i was the first person to actually present ;)).

though good work on trying to have an answer for something that doesn't have one.

Wouldn't it be amusing if homosexuality was natural, and heterosexuality was simply a quick evolutionary means for having kids?

Could be the case, I don't see why not. There's nothing natural to me about either gay or straight people. LOL :)

well, there's always the fact that a race with more methods to pleasure itself has more reasons to survive, but you'd probably say that's dodging the question.

p.s
everything has an answer, though whether it is in our capability to find and comprehend every answer is another matter.

p.p.s
it's also quite an easy task to come up with a few oddball theories that could offer various explanations as to how homosexuality is beneficial, but seeing you consider yourself a capable individual who just spends his time asking supposedly rhetorical questions, i'm sure you can come up with them by yourself.

Interestingly, male homosexuality is present in many species, but female homosexuality is not as common. Regardless, since it isn't an exclusively human characteristic, we can conclude that it has been around for a very long time and isn't particularly detrimental to the ability of a species to propagate itself.

i remember reading a chapter in my anthropology book about a tribe that ritualistically performs fellatio on each other.. the boys performing it on the men.. to fill their souls with the "life force" necessary to create offspring. so these little boys do this until they're adults, and by then they have enough "life force" to impregnate women. and if the boys perform the action on each other, they are in turn "stealing the life force" from each other, and is therefore forbidden.

just some food for thought.
