Point of order, with dogs this is more a kin to prison rape then sex. Dogs, wolves, foxes, etc. will attempt to anally penetrate other males in the pack in order to assert dominance over them... rarely do they continue past the initial penetration; therefore, presumably they are not doing this for sexual pleasure.

Well, I know that with Bonobos, the scientists looked at how they used sex in their society. And the implications were that they understood the power of sex (i.e. that it brings pleasure), because of the way the Bonobos used it as reward/punishment, and because of the high occurrence of homosexuality.
It's all a bit foggy, though...this is stuff I learned about in HS.
Did you know that Bonobos are the only other mammals besides humans that engage in missionary style sex? Heh, among other positions.
