Only when the car is already impossible to turn without hitting the wall he decides to go right for once.

I know the video is slow-motion, so things were a lot faster but still it doesn't make any sense to do that correction, the whole thing looks very odd.

Thanks for posting the link. Particularly the beginning of the incident looks odd to me, because he turns in extremely early, much earlier than I thought actually. Villeneuve was right when he said that was a newbie mistake. Maybe he simply lost concentration after realising he was not going to beat his time. I'm saying that because the second correction does look logical to me, as the right front was still locking up when he initiated the correction, albeit just for a few hundreds of a second.

I'm still not convinced it was a deliberate mistake.

So I'm sure he'll go to Ferrari or Renault next year. Of course Renault would be the better decision if Todt, Brown & co leave Ferrari at the end of the season.

Don't forget next year everyone's on Bridgestone, who have been known to favour Ferrari in the past, and even if they treat everyone equally Ferrari are currently the only top team that won't have to adapt to a new tyre.

Neither am i, i dont at all believe Schumacher would do that. Ok he hasnt got the best reputation but that reputation is built on totally other incidents than this. Once racing for position he'll do everything -sometimes barely within the regulation- to defend his position but schumi's to great a driver to be doing stuff like that deliberately. It just wouldnt make sence.

Ferrari were right claiming that this is a very dangerous precedent, making it possible to punish every foul committed by a driver...

for those who don't know Schumacher's past, here's a quite funny video:

well if i'm not mistaken its only been a few years that you can only go off your racing line one time ... :p

And that incident with coulthard in spa i believe was ed up man, that was a championship against hakkinen and i believe hakkinen had allready fallen out and schumi was going for the win, and then coulthard (hakkinen's teammate) started braking in front of shumi in the rain with zero visibility. Damn i was pissed, he should have hit coulthard stupid face !!

coulthard didn't brake but just lift, still moronic and dangerous tho. the video is taking the piss of schumacher's reaction by going to mclarens pitlane and making a big scene. :p

here are some declarations allegedly attributed to one of the stewards who penalised him saturday:

"he braked over 50% more heavily than on the other laps...he performed some absolutely unnecessary and pathetic counter-steering...he lost control of the car while travelling at 16km/h! That's something completely unjustifiable. And the engine shut off because he wanted it to...And the excuse that he did not engage reverse because there was traffic doesn't make sense."

ing steward, pathetic counter steering

i wonder how many ferrari's he's driven through the streets of monaco

Those Ferrari vs. Mclaren fights were fantastic. F1 used to be better than now. :(

lol at the first scene.

Those were the days of F1, great battles between McLaren and Ferrari is what gave F1 good ratings in the past. But in that video there were only 2 bad moves by MS and he's not the only one to have a bad reputation.

Monteiro in the 2nd qualy stage!

Button, Webber and Trulli all surprisingly out in the 1st stage, the later due to mechanical problems.

Great qualy by Kimi, best one so far this season. Alonso also obviously did well.

The Honda performance is the most interesting, look at the difference between Barrichello and Button! Terrible day for Jenson on his home gp..

Button and Webber both had very risky strategies, they only did 3 laps (ie one flyer) in the first session. Don't know why you would do that, at least put in 2 maybe 3 flyers even if they're back to back if possible.

Its not like Webber is preserving an old engine, its brand new. Not sure about Button's.
