This race finished at 5:15pm here (I was watchng live timing so know what happened), but our local tv station isn't showing the race until 11:40pm tonight.
"Channel 10 Home of motorsport" my arse:rolleyes:
They had better do the Japanese GP live:whip:

Great race for MS for sure.

Renault lost the race for Alonso with the stuck wheel nut. They had to change the front tires because the one was already bald. They were screwed either way because dry tires wouldn't have worked either.

Alonso was on a mission over the last few laps of the race. Another 3 or 4 laps and it would have been an epic showdown. Fisi went out and -footed around on his dry tires and couldn't keep MS held up at all.

Sato, in typical Sato style wrecked the race for a few guys right on the last lap. This guy shouldn't be driving at all.

Suzuka is going to be one helluva race as always.

Can't wait for the next race. Even though the result didn't meet my expectations, it was a great race. Alonso's driving was excellent at the beginning, but after he started having problems with the engine it went downhill (his 3rd gear blew out?). Great driving by Schumi as well. It really pissed me off when Alonso had that 20second pit stop, ing Renault:p And let's not talk about Fisi's turn after the pitstop...
Kubica was sliding like a mad man, trying to keep that car under control. The engineer at the pit stop looked hurt after he left. The guy either braked to late and/or the tires slipped too much.

^^^ I didn't know he had a gearbox/engine issue. He still had fast lap of the race and for the last 20 or so he was running consistently 1.5 seconds faster than anyone else. The gap was just too much. Without the stuck wheelnut it would have been an awesome duel to the finish. If he was having engine issues, that will cost him dearly next weekend since he needs to use this same engine again at Suzuka.

Sato just have his Superlicense suspended. That braindead move on the last lap was totally unacceptable. This isn't the first time he's done something boneheaded, and I doubt it will be the last.

That sucks for him, but I can understand why it's been done. All I heard was that he got disqualified from last night's race.

About Alonso's gearbox: that's what the commentators were saying last night, I'm not sure if it's true. When he was changing gears, they were showing that he was having trouble getting into third. He had a lot of problems with the tires at one point as well, and when the team decided to change them again, it was too late. I'm hoping it wasn't an engine problem, it would really suck for him if he has to change the engine for next week.

sorry, my comment should have read: "Sato SHOULD have his Superlicense suspended"

:)

My bad. He was only disqualified (along with Albers, but for a slightly different sequence of events).

Hopefully it's only a gearbox issue for Alonso. I want to see this be a straight fight in the last two races. Hopefully both Alonso and Schu get good reliability and the championship gets settled by one guy winning instead of one guy losing due to a mechanical DNF.

There was no gearbox issues in any articles I read just the front tyres being not as fast on the drying track until it got worn down to semi slicks

Lol, thx for clarifying, I couldn't find anything on that:p

That's all I could find as well, I'm thinking the commentators were just dicking around...

Haha trancenutter...how is channel 10, i also found out before it aired but i was still excited. They could've ran it live the idiots.

Sure it was possible for Fisi to move closer to the driving line on the inside but it would've been very difficult with those tryes and the wet track..like inter said not even Michael could've done it. Michael had done one lap already had a bit of warmth plus momentum down the straight. That first corner is tight and i noticed Schumi was taking it wide every lap throughout the race. But in the end it was a victorious win for Michael and Ferrai, bring on the next two races...FORZA FERRARI e FORZA SCHUMI !!!

oh and yes Sato should be banned from F1 permanently! that last lap carnage was funny but at same time stupid.

pmoisse
Yeah, there wasn't much Fisi could do in that situation. Schu set up the move perfectly and Fisi's car was understeering ever worse on the damp track without any heat in the tires.

If he would have moved over, there could have been a coming-together which would have put them both out of the race, and affected the championship. It would have been a racing incident, but it just wouldn't have looked good, you know?

Or it would have looked like the Schu vs. Hill or Schu vs Villeneuve incidents in the past :p

Either way, I'm happy it stayed clean.

I want to see this won on the track in a good 2-race shootout.

Schummy ftw!
