So, I was just flipping channels a while ago and I saw that Montoya was being interviewed on SpeedTV, apparently he's going to Nascar starting next year? When did he decide this? I haven't heard anything about it until now:wtf:
He's going to be driving the Nextel #42 car for those that don't know/care... |

Just heard this on our sports news program. So I guess its no rumour. I had heard whispers that maybe he was on his way back to Williams next year, but that didn't sound right when I heard it (didn't he have a falling out with Frank?) and now we know thats not gonna happen.
Shame cos he was fast and aggressive, but oh well thats how it goes. Drivers have come and gone in the past, don't think this is some indicator. Theres a multitude of reasons he could move |

NASCAR...the perpetual left turn for those with low IQs.
I used to like the oval tracks until I started watching F1 this year.
Big difference. I'm hooked.

Report: Danica's family talking to NASCAR teams
ESPN.com news services
JOLIET, Ill. -- Danica Patrick's father is exploring the possibility of the popular Indy Racing League driver moving to NASCAR as soon as next year, the Orlando Sentinel reported Monday.

Danica Patrick's father says she could be leaving IRL for NASCAR as soon as next season.
The Sentinel reported that T.J. Patrick, who has managed Danica Patrick's career since childhood, was in exploratory talks with some NASCAR teams at Chicagoland Speedway on Sunday.
"I'm trying to get her here [into NASCAR]," T.J. Patrick told the Sentinel.
T.J. and Bev Patrick, who formerly lived in Roscoe, Ill., attended NASCAR's USG Sheetrock 400 because "we've had some inquiries" from NASCAR teams, T.J. Patrick told the newspaper.
The Sentinel reported the couple was in the Nextel Cup garage area as guests of Roush Racing, which fields drivers Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray and runs Fords on the Nextel Cup circuit.
Danica Patrick's contract with Rahal-Letterman Racing team ends after this season and the Patricks are negotiating with other IRL teams as well as NASCAR teams, the Sentinel reported. The newspaper said team co-owner Bobby Rahal declined comment through a spokesman.
Team spokesman Brent Mauer declined to comment on the report Monday but confirmed that the Rahal team has been discussing a contract extension with Patrick.
Patrick, who became IRL's most recognizable driver by leading part of the 2005 Indianapolis 500 and finishing fourth, has yet to enjoy similar success in 2006, as Rahal-Letterman has endured a frustrating season.
Rahal-Letterman, which enjoyed a power advantage by running Honda engines in 2005, lost that advantage when the entire league shifted to Hondas for 2006. It was the last team to use a Panoz chassis and struggled to adjust when it finally switched to a Dallara, used by every other team in IRL, after the Indy 500. And the team lost one of its drivers when Paul Dana was killed during practice before the IRL's season-opening race in Homestead, Fla.

Would Patrick be welcome in NASCAR?
Stock-car icon Richard Petty said in May that women had no business getting behind the wheel, but today's drivers seem more receptive to welcoming Patrick.
"That would be another huge one for sure," said Martin. "I think it would be great, absolutely fantastic. She is definitely a major, major, major draw. It would be fantastic to see her getting involved at this stage in her career, which is in the early stages. It would give her enough time to really adapt to the cars and everything and make a go of it."
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report. |

Same here. He had the odd good move, but otherwise was not a real threat to the top drivers. He was lazy and it showed. |

| Montoya arrogant bastard who had a lot of media attention. I hate the guy but he never proved anything for one. What did he win 3-4 races in his whole term @ F1. So yes its time to go back to all left turn "racing". He will be eating alive by hicks though :haha: |

Nice to see De La Rosa, a man who loves this sport so much, having the chance of his life at 35. Very smart and hard-working guy.
PS Montoya, tócate la ... |

oh for s sake, stop dicking with the regulations halfway through the season:rolleyes:
Final qualifying session shortened to 15 minutes. In all 3 sessions the lap started before but finished after the flag will now count (previously only the last session).
The last part makes sense, but bring it in at the end of the season:rolleyes:
And no more 3rd cars on Friday from next season. Dunno the rationale behind that. |
