So essentially we have yet another thread that boils down to people arguing the virtues of faith vs. empirical evidence (both in favor of scientific explanations of everything that deny any rational possibility of a "god", however defined, as well as of the well documented atrocities committed on behalf of religion)?
The predictability of this place is a bore. :o |

It's all inevitably one big pissing match whose sole purpose is to see who will give up first.
Why people feel so terribly threatened by belief systems that differ from their own, I'll never know - but I have a suspicion that in reality it's just the subtle aspect of the culture of fear finally getting to the more intellectually capable members of society.
What a shame. :( |

Please. None of you ever say anything different on the matter. Why don't you start coming up with some new ideas, instead of regurgitating the same old over and over and over again?
All you do is bitch bitch bitch about it. Well why don't you go out and take some action and come up with some solutions instead?? |

I think the contrast/comparison between believers and non-believers is interesting.
First, we have people of faith who we could argue are so unafraid of what they don't know that they can just ignore "facts" and "evidence". Or perhaps they ARE afraid, and so God makes them feel safe.
Then we have so called informed people, who we could argue are so afraid of what they don't know, and so they rely on knowledge to make them feel safe. |
