Not sure if you consider me devout based on my posts re: Islam but if so, I don't think I've ever tried to convince people to convert their atheistic belief to my own. And I don't ever feel that my personal security is threatened (yes I know you were exaggerating) but I do feel like my beliefs are undermined when people base their conflicting perspectives on their own opinions rather than facts about my religion. I don't think it's always a matter of empirical evidence, but rather about interpretation of scripture and/or the validity of various applications of religion on this planet.
