Some of the responses in this thread are golden - and frankly, to those of you who think Scientology "should" be banned, why in s name would you want one of most efficient systems we have for idiot detection banned? |
:haha:
I almost said something like "the only people taken in by Scientology are fools anyway..." |

Genau, it is.
Nicht ein = kein. -er works with adjectives. |

this past week we went to another city in France ( Lyon ) for a small trip and one of the evenings in a drunken state some of the students chit chatted with scientologists.
The whole ordeal lasted 30 minutes or so.
I didn't listen to the convo ( but I did take a very big of their reading material ) but apparently a scientologist tried to make an analogy with not being capable of judging the church until you've tried it. Much like with kebab sandwiches ... you don't know their good till you've tried one.

oh maaz,
the first german quote was somewhat of a reference to John F Kennedy's speach in Berlin. other than the article referencing Berlin, im not sure what it had to do with anything...as he was a moderate catholic| |

We have a church of Scientology in my city as well, and like Josh4 mentioned, I was interested in going in for the "consultation" to find out what goes on.
But then I thought about some of the creepy ass that goes on, and wondered if it was safe. I have yet to find someone who is interested enough to go with me to take a look around. |

yeah, it was just a play on words....because tom cruise is a scientologist, and i was thinking of some clever way of saying he was "banned" in germany. so i referenced JFK Jr w/ the whole "berliner" speech.
ps, lol @ donuts |

Scientology is just as legitimate a relgion as any of the others.
However, I find people's adherence to utter homogeny more abhorable than anything Scientology could ever do. While we're on the subject, just what sort of "freaky ass " has scientology actually committed against people? If I recall from reliable sources, Christianity is the faction responsible for numerous crusades, torturous inquisitions, paramilitant brainwashing and a multitude of other officially-approved transgressions against its very tenants while in the process of maintaining a hegemony of fear and prejudice all over the world. What, pray-tell, has scientology even done to deserve such vehemence towards it? hmm? Baa? |
