This is the typical tom foolery idiocy that comes with people that try to say the Vette and the Viper are not precise machines. Fail on all cylinders. There is a reason why GT1 was basically abandoned. The Vette dominated the race 100% of the time. Won the championship for 7 years straight.

i am starting to appreciate vettes though. you get A LOT of car for the money.

The Vette and Viper have always held their own. Always.

Those RB26DETT's are highly strung out of the factory. They also cost about $7-8000 for a new one when you (invariably) blow it up or spin bearings.

^ Yeah, the Vette's were unstoppable for years until Aston came along and gave them a good run for their money. The C6R's sound great at full chat (so do the Astons, my god...). The ORECA-run Vipers were the same back in the late 90's.

My ears were ringing so bad after the 24 Hours of LeMans this year (but in a good, car porn way :))

Yeah the Astons were their only real competition in that class. Fortunately they ditched GT1 and went to GT2. They are really having a good show there now.

Especially the new ZR-1. With the price and performance of that model, you could say that it has really set some sort of bar even with godzilla.

GT1 would have been epic with more manufacturer support. Sadly Porsche didn't want to run the Carrera GT1, and Ferrari didn't want to bust out anything either. There's a Masseratti MC12 that runs in the FIA GT series, but I guess they weren't invited to LeMans.

Konigsegg, Ascari and Gumpert would also be great in that crowd. Hopefully they can fit into GT2 for next year.

not sure if it's a repost or not..

but here it is anyways.

Audi RS4...giving the M3 a run for it's money.

I would love for Audi to to a lightweight RS4 or S5 but have it only rear wheel drive.

That would be a proper BMW fighter.

They're badass as they are, but I would love to see what more they could make them

Totally agree there. Manufacturer support blew so much ass in GT1. Although, to be fair, it was warranted. For 7 years running the same car won the championship. Coming in and upsetting that would be no easy feat.

Definitely at least at the entry level they're probably mostly bought by old geezers in a mid life crisis, then sold on to young male hooligans who do 100mph past primary schools and crash them into old geezers driving too slow to get out of the way.
Its a cyclic process :p

Oh, those upper tier models are serious machines. American's make a lot of disposable rubbish cars, but the vettes and vipers aren't in the same league, especially considering they draw on help from companies like Lotus and Lamborghini to do some engineering from time to time.

Its $0.83 at the moment :(
Import tax, luxury car tax, GST, on road fees, transfer fees... it piles on new cars. Probably costs BMW all of $200 to ship them here, but the market is 1/20th of the size of the US, demand isn't that high and people just sort of accept that they're going to get robbed buying it, probably carjacked for it at some point and utterly skinned alive for parts after the warranty runs out.
