This new one, you could pretty easily mistake for a Maserati if you weren't a car person. |
Though thats kind of like saying,"You old girlfriend looked much better than your new one, sure shes slimmer and better shaped than rhe previous one but her face looks too much like |

FTFY :p
But dude, a car marque should be distinct. A BMW resembling a Maserati, is just dumb. Be distinctly BMW and that's it. |

I see this shape as an evolution from the E60 which draws its styling more from the rest of the range than from other makes. You still have the distinct features that makes you recognise it as a bmw from afar, the kidney grills, the angel ayes. Also to me at least this shape takes much aspirations from the classic 5 series cars, the pre e39 era. Last two generations of the 5er were quite large and heavy (though still the best in their class), this is more like the e34...sporty fromt and shapely ass, classic for the modern age.
I know im raving on a bit but i just ing love the 5 series bmws :p |

Oh yes, that would be another amazing one to have. Too bad Alpina doesn't exist in the US. |

Well they did some testing for the new B7 in the us so you newer know, perhaps they imght just enter the market. Though i dont think they could keep up with demand, even as it is the waiting list for the alpina cars is quite long.
Also the previous B7 was apparantly available (in limited quantities) trough some bmw dealers in the us. So some lucky bastards are driving thosein the us. |

I am sure they had to do all the usual import . Since, it wasn't officially here, they probably had to provide test data and do the changes directly at the dealer for US consumption. |

See, I would much prefer the last gen front-end, due to the fact that it is still distinctly BMW. This new one, you could pretty easily mistake for a Maserati if you weren't a car person. |
how, the , would anyone that isnt a car person ever mistake something for a maserati. most people don't even know what a maserati looks like.
i understand both sides of the argument. i think the 5 was the best Bangle design, and i find the new one a bit bland. but i also think if you look at the line-up pic - that the last gen stands out as the weirdo. all the others look related, including the new one.
when i think of maserati i think of these tail lights:
and that is because they look like prelude tails:
