i will deff admit to all that rant you wrote about z lol
that iam kinda guilty about not haveing a good time at armin these past few gigs then going to see him again
its just sad, cause back in the day he owned, i was never disapointed at any armin set of his from 2003-2006
as of now i heard hes gonna be back for that festival thing in sept
if hes spinning ill prob listen to him for a few since iam already there, but if theres other area's and theres another dj who i wanna see playing..then armin is beat |

| I've been going to Armin's parties for quite some time now. And think they're just as good now as they were back then. Usually, it's you that change, not the DJ. And of course the rule of thumb where last show is always better than the next. It's funny how a few years make something that was good at the time, epic now. |

I just felt the need for those who DID enjoy it and like armin to know its ok to keep up the praise....it seems to have turned into a rant session here- and I feel badly that I contrubited with a mainly bitcing response initially :) :) |

| It was a great set, he played dirty stuff. It was the third time I've seen him and without a doubt the best set that he played. Maybe the best show I've ever been to in my life to be honest with you. |

I was definitely a light-player for the first half of the show... :eyespop:
I remember seeing a guy just flat out passed out by the stairs leading down to the bathroom. My friend took pictures with him. :p |

hahah yes- I agree, and i just want to let everyone kknow that I had a fabulous time!!! I really thought it was a lot of fun and was impressed by Armin & Made Events. Also as Sam mentioned previously it really does depend on the company you are with as well (whether that be all your friends to enjoy - or no one at all so you can ignore everyone and simply enjoy the music-- I have been both of these people at random shows and had the time of my life)
Good times, thats all. Im not totally bothered if I know that Armin is going to play song XYZ, because in fact thats why I am there- I want to hear songs X,Y,Z and I expect to hear them.
Also I was thinking - on all these ID'd Armin sets from various shows- obviously the most so-called 'Cheese songs', and well known songs, are going to be the easiest ID'd. I feel like there are some good bangers that are mixed up in these sets that go without recognition because sometimes its obviously more dificult to ID a banging tune you may only know by ear, than it is to ID your average Jaren vocal track, or etc.
Also- This is just a general reflection on EDM... I find it quite funny:
So okay, I used to be into a wide range of music: Regardless of the genre, since I have been about 13, I have consistently been going to insane amounts of shows/concerts. I have seen Third Eye Blind about like 10 times, Jay-Z 7 times, Limp Bizkit like 5 times, the list goes on. At some point along this path, I started to get into EDM... I would go to a string of EDM shows and then my sisters would drag me out to a Third Eye Blind or a Jay-z show... at these concerts i suddenly realized "OMG THIS SUCKS" ... The same songs come on over again over again.. (Omg its Big Pimpin - Who woulda thought!?!?!) - There is absolutely no surprise in seeing shows like this.. NONE! you know exactly what your gunna get! I got so bored. I hate going to regular concerts now...
Why i LOVE EDM is because you are never really sure what your going to hear. yes, you have an idea of what you will hear if you follow Z's rules and scope out the latest sets, but still there is an element of surprise. Its funny to me that we, as a community, can be so critical of EDM events.. when they are truly such a unique live-music experience, unlike the boring, 100% limited-in-content shows I just talked about above.
I like to remind myself of this.. because yea, even though I mentioned that Armins set was a bit predictable in Boston... i just like to remember the uniqueness of all these shows and why i like this music and these live events in the first place. I think we can be too critical... As sam and I call it... "too spoiled".. haha.
example: was i 100% positive armin would play an eco track?... yes. Was i mad that he did so because it was 'predictable'.... HELL NO! I love his tracks! bring them on! i dont care if i can predict that sh*t, i wanna hear it! now! :) haha.. thats just my opinion... and why personally for me, i like armin. That doesnt mean i dont listen to any thing else or are brainwashed by his #1 status- thats why i go see other DJs too.
/end what ever it is that was.
bottom line- great time at armin, will def go back for more. |
