Couldn't pass up Ferry and Markus so I'm heading out to this. 1st time at Nocturnal and the NOS so I'm curious how it will be.
Got Trance?
I cant make it to this one, which sucks cause i wanted to see Patterson and Markus

Who said I didnt like trance?

Just because I know House is better, doesnt mean I can't enjoy trance! :tongue3

The labyrinth was amazing. Menno, Markus, and Ferry were my favorite. ATB had an amazing opening to his set, I was hopping all over the place but then sadly he turned into gayTB and started playing all this poppy crap, it killed my musical buzz! it pissed me off; I walked out of the labyrinth, waited outside, and went back in as soon ferry came on stage. Overall an amazing night. Thank you Insomniac, thanks to all the dj's.

That two story tent (Alice's House) was f'n AWESOME!!!! Why did they switch the Labyrinth and it in the end? Everything about Alice's House destroyed Labyrinth from the booth/stage, lasers, to the LEDs along the side, to it being not nearly as hot in there.

Anyhow, not complaining...but damnnnn, next time every stage should use that tent setup. :

Holy effing crap. For my first massive, that was AMAZING.

I've never been surrounded by that many EDM fans in my life!

Ferry, Markus, and Menno totally blew me away. And Chase & Status played some sick dubstep (if you're into that).

VIP was great, but not having any VIP bars in the Labyrinth was lame. At least the VIP areas were pretty close by. Buffet was good. Alice's House was just a better setup all around than the Labyrinth. I know why Insomniac did it, but it just helped drive home the sad fact that house is more popular than trance in the US, even if was for pure capacity reasons. It sure as hell didn't ruin my night, though, cause it was an amazing festival all around.

Carnival rides, multiple areas of music, beautiful outdoor lighting, great sound systems... you Cali people know how to party!

I'm so glad they switched because other than Markus the labyrinth was a goddamn snoozefest. I tried to enjoy the music in there but holy trance really has gone down the gutter. On a more positive note nocturnal this year was the best ive ever attended and I got a free cabana to top it all off. Pretty much the most amazing massive experience of my life. crazy pics and vids will be up tommorrow. For anyone who missed Eddie Halliwell's closing set I feel very bad for you because that was straight ROCKIN!

I like the Original Vocal mix of Perception better!

How was Dusty Kid? Anyone catch him? Hmm????

man i hope nothing major happened at this event with it being 18+. This was sadly an ultimate test off to the state to prove the music genre is just a music genre and jot a drug fest. So far doesnt seem anything crazy happened.

For those of you that missed nocturnal. Just kno that markus schulz ripped the freakin roof off that place!!! Best set by far!!:D

my 2 cents on the event.

"apparently" steve angello threw a hissy fit when he was told he had to play in the 'old' stage..and said if he doesn't play in the new stage, that he would not play at all. i know how rumors start, but an employee told me this, not sure about the validity but thought i'd pass it along.

and yea, the house stage was MUCH nicer. better lighting, sound, everything. trance got shafted again. the trance stage got really hot, but as the nice progressed and there was a flow of traffic, it got cooler but man it was hot when markus schulz went on.

i was just going back and forth mostly during menno and simons set, but menno played some great songs and simon was really delivering hard trance.

so markus schulz went one, and like always, delivered. i love the siren perception intro, i thought it was a little too slow for a festival but he banged it out soon after...one thing my friend and i noticed was that the volume level wasn't that high for markus, what did you guys think?

he played a lot of the tunes i've heard in play during the past 2-3 months, but most of them were fitting for a rave, so if it works, it works..and for the most part it did. he played 2 ID songs and just had a pretty good assortment of music. his mixing was flawless, a+ interaction with crowd..you kind of get used to it from markus so i wasn't blow away. very surprised that he played both daydream and perfect..but it was awesome. they are great tunes. the only 'bad' songs IMO were do you dream and also the pvd song, anywhere but home or whatever its called.

atb started great, but everything bad that was said about him was absolutely true. from his horrible mixing skills, to even worse song selection..there were times that i couldnt believe there was actually a world known dj up there. i like how he would sample in 9pm till i come every 10 min..he threw in a few pop/rock songs which didn't just work and i had no idea that he would actually sing in some of his songs...started great but went down the train very fast, very soon.

and i couldnt really get into ferrys set, as predicted, he played ferry's top 10 best singles, and threw in some songs from his compilation. his set was kinda boring and IMO just didn't do it for me.

all in all, great venue, we parked across the street for free..insomniac did a great job in making sure everything went smoothly..hopefully next year they bring in two of those tents and make everybody happy.
