I'm a HUGE Ferry fan, so there's no way I was going to miss his set, but it was a little bit disappointing.

I wouldn't say it was his fault, though. Considering his fanbase and the short timeslot he was given, I understand why it sort of turned into a greatest hits show. I personally never get sick of hearing "Made of Love", either, because I adore that track.

It wasn't nearly as awesome as the 2-3 hour club sets I'm used to seeing him play, though.

It didn't hurt my opinion of him as a DJ at all, I guess I just prefer club Ferry to massive Ferry.

And like everyone has said, Markus blew the roof off the place.

even though it's a shorter set, ferry always plays those songs in his set. it's ok occasionally, but every ferry set i dload, he plays those songs...each and every single one of them.

yes markus played 2 of his greatest hits (daydream and perfect), however the last time any of those were played in a so.cal massive was edc of 2009.

it's good to play your hits on occasion, but ferry always plays it, whether its a 1.5hr set or a 3hr set.

I had a great time at Noctunral, definitely the best party I've been too in a long time. Got there pretty early and got to catch the last ten minutes of Tritonals set. I had no idea who Josh Gallaghan was, but I was impressed. He played a lot of trance hits. We were able to catch Tritonals second 30 minute set, and in my opinion, it was the most energetic set of the night. They played a remix of Love Comes Again, Perception (Super8 & Tab Remix), On A Metropolis Day, and Don't Give a .

We got back to the main stage and waited till Menno came on. In my opinion he started off a bit slow, but dropped Armins new track Orbion which had the place going, and later played Platinum (Ben Gold Remix) and his track Last Light Tonight which got the party started. Simon Patterson was decent, although his sound got a little repetitive.

Markus Schulz tore the roof off the place. I was most excited about his set and he did not disappoint. His Perception opening was great along with his big room mixes of his new album tracks. My group went nuts when Perfect and Daydream came on, and him ending with Opera Of Northern Ocean (Phynn Remix) and Not The Same was great. I saw ATB for a bit to check out Steve Angello so I can't comment much, but a lot of my friends who aren't into the music as much enjoyed his set, so he must have played some more main stream stuff, so while it may not have been a great set, I'm glad they had fun.

I don't remember much from Steve Angello other than it being a fun house set and a nice change of pace from the trance. After being in that room, I really wished they could have had the main stage in there, but I think it worked out for the better the way it was. I was really looking forward to Eddie Halliwell, having seen him at Lovevolution 2009 where he tore the roof off with a great trance set, but I was pretty disappointed by the fact that he just dropped house tunes.

Overall though, it was an excellent party, only real complaint was the heat, but thats obviously out of everyones control.

I know it was probably caused by the last minute switch, but try to make sure the main trance and house stages each have VIP bar areas next time, even if it's all the way at the back of the tent.

Other than that, I can't complain much. Some of the most fun I've ever had.

Still working on my review but had this on my mind now:

1. Cheaper parking- $20 to park is a little much
2. 2 2 story tents- I loved how the house one! The visuals/production where way better. Just b/c a dj throws a hissy doesn't mean the whole lay out should change. He needs to put his big girl panties on and deal.
3. More trash cans! I almost tripped on a few water bottles.
4. There has to be a way to attach fans or misters in the larger tents to help cool them off

I loved the burner art, the free costume tent (burner spirit) the finger paint wall.
There where also a lot of porter potties so no big wait. Would be nice if there was some hand sanitizer at the end of it. The hand washing stations where all ready empty when we got there at 5.

I feel insomniac goes way above everybody else to add extra elements to make the party more unique and special. So thank you for that.

I donīt understand all this ATB bashing here.. just watch this video. I think there are a couple of people really likes what he did :eyes:

look at that: ATB @ Nocturnal 2010, opening with Ecstasy

We all expected him to open with one of his songs, no surprise, no harm done..... People are bashing him because he doesn't seem to follow proper DJ etiquette, and because he simply has bad taste in (trance) music...... Before last weekend my friends and I have avoided his club and festival sets like the plague, just based on his productions, recent recorded sets, and the rumors on TA about how much he sucked. After being forced to see him this weekend, I understand why everybody hates him now...... And yes, we were forced to be there for his set as Steve Angello is even cheesier, so we had nowhere else to go. But back to the topic at hand: playing his own productions is fine, even though they are dated and a bit cheesy...... The samples every 10-15 minutes are fine imo..... And putting aside the bad mixing, most of his set wasn't "that" bad. He played a lot harder, and less fluffy, than I thought he would. But back to the main topic, and why we continue to bash him:

1. ty mixing: this is unacceptable. He has been dj'ing for over 15 years, yet he can't beat match properly? WTF? Use Ableton or Traktor then..... And yes, his train wrecks were VERY obvious.

2. He played a Rage Against the Machine song. I like this band, and I like the song, we all grew up on this , whatever..... But this was a ing rave. Unacceptable! If he played an electronic remix then it "might" be okay, but that's still pushing it.

3. He kept talking on the mic during the whole set. David Guetta does that, and we all know how ing annoying it is. Do any other DJ's do this and get away with it? Wait until your ing set is over if you want to talk on the mic.

4. He sang a gay song, and his voice sounded like .

Those are the only things I can think of off the top of my head that bothered me in particular. Others should feel free to add more to the list......

So if you take the 4 things above, then add everyone else's criticisms, and pepper them throughout a 1.5 hour set, with some of the violations being repeated multiple times, you get a ty set, and pissed off Trance Addicts.....

very well said simo

i will say this though, as much as his dj skills suck, it was still a pretty fun set..definitely better than anything you hear at a club with top 40's.

On a brighter note, ATB actually played my song of the night:

Dark Monks - Insane (Steve Murano Remix)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmi_-XY0Q8k

PVD used to play this song in his older sets (04-05). I don't like some of the elements in the song, but has one of the most wicked bass lines EVER. I've been praying to hear this song live and ATB finally played it hehehe. I'll cherish this moment forever. Nevertheless, he still sucks and will never listen to one of his sets again.......
