Well, it's pretty clear that Boston can't guard Lebron OR Wade, let alone both. Big Baby was Big Embarrassing tonight, and Bosh is going to be able to shoot mid range jumpers because KG is needing to stay down low for the most part ever since Perkins left. Add to that the fact that Chalmers (another great defender) is back, and I really don't see this series going past 5 unless Ray Allen is making like 10 3's a night.

dude, it's GAME 1. you can't predict a teams performance based on the first game, especially after the break the celtics had, come on...

I'm not just basing on game 1. I'm basing it on the Heat being a better team. Pretty much every matchup on the floor favors the Heat. Paul Pierce guarding Lebron James? :stongue:

One thing is guaranteed, and that is that Paul Pierce will shed more tears than the Celtics will win games.

nothing today showed how the celtics truly play when they're on their game. just saying

a minute or so when they forced three miami's turnovers in a row showed what they are capable of:D
oh and I think pierce will do a good job of guarding lebron, just like he did in the past. and lebron didnt have a good game today either

I agree, but it also doesn't say that they're going to magically turn it on and win 4 games against a team with a way above average defense. With the amount they're going to need to score to beat the Heat, I just don't see that happening against Miami's D.

Maybe 22 points 5 rebounds and 5 assists isn't a "good game" for Lebron, but that's the point. Lebron can have a below standard game for him and still score 20-25, and even if one player is off, they still have 2 more superstars who can score 20-30 every game.

Offensive games aside, Miami's defense is what's going to win this series. Ray Allen led the team with 25 points, and 15 were from 3s. It's really hard to live and die by the 3 in the NBA, and Ray Allen seems to be the Celtics only glimmer of hope at this point. Yeah, that could change, but I still don't see Boston winning more than 1 or 2 games at the most.

Calm down srussell. You sound like that one dude who said Knicks in 5 over the Celts after Boston needed a buzzer beater at home to win game 1 of that series playing against mostly scrubs. The C's are one of the best teams at making adjustments between games, and they have a WAY better coach. They looked like they got boat raced but what really happened? They lost by 9 in Miami with a week off, and no Paul Pierce for the last 7:30 of the game. James Jones won't play that good again, and Garnett and Baby won't play that weak again in this series.

I'm not saying Boston wins the series, but to say Miami in 5 is a bit premature. I say it goes 6 or 7, and each game will get tighter and tighter.

Anybody who assumes that any team is going to win a series is a fool. Anything can happen in the playoffs.

You must be one of those guys who doesn't like to walk outside when it's raining for fear of being struck by lightning.

"Anything can happen."

What's wrong with making predictions and attempting to back them up? Memphis was what? The fourth eight seed to ever knock off a one seed? And you're saying "anything can happen" as though it's a coin-flip.

Comparing this to the Knicks is a joke though. What happened was that they got beat by a better team tonight. It wasn't how either team played as a whole, because Bosh and Lebron had average games by their standards as well. Big Baby is going to be a non-factor in this series, so either Allen or Pierce is going to need to step up in a huge way if they're going to have any chance (which I'm definitely not saying is impossible). KG is past his years of being able to take over a game, so it really rests on those 2 players.

Still, as a team, at this point in their careers the Heat are much better talent wise. Rondo is a great facilitator who can't shoot, Allen is a shooter who doesn't play D, Pierce is..Pierce, and KG is a defender whose offense has been declining steadily over the past few years. Baby doesn't match up well against anyone, because he's essentially a 3 who is too fat to play the 3 position, so they throw him in at Power Forward, where he's too short to make any kind of difference. He's only an inch taller than Lebron, so his little jump shots that made Celtics fans ooze over his remarkable skill as a "big man" will be a moot point in this series.

This whole "don't worry it's only the first game" attitude may be effective at assuaging the anxiety that comes after being beaten, but you didn't lose because you played badly, you lost because you're playing a better team. I'm not saying the Celtics are a bad team, as it's obvious that they aren't, but Miami has them beat at almost every position on the floor.

In the case of Miami and Boston, saying Ray Allen is the only glimmer of hope for the Celtics is ing stupid. The series is a coin-flip. It's a complete tossup. They're both ridiculously talented teams across the board, and I simply can't base the result of the entire series on one game. Any player can get hot. If you're going to label me, you can off. At any point, either team could win a game, and I'm not about to say "Miami in 5" or "Celtics in 6", because there is absolutely no way to tell. In the case of Miami vs Philidelphia, it was clear who would take the series after Game 1. Boston is too good of a team to treat that way.
