for all of you who cant count steps:
crab step = lebron 3 steps. count them. 1.2.stop.moves pivot foot. (this is called a step in nba, after you stop with 2 steps you cant move your pivot foot.) This is an automatic travelling call.
its one of restrictions of gathering the ball to go up for a shot, in the extended rule called TRAVELLING.
