I really was a fan of D. Wade and LBJ prior to this season but this picture is a perfect example of why I have a hard time watching them anymore. They just always seem to be so impressed with their abilities and accomplishments. No one refutes that they are two of the best players in the game yet they seem so dedicated to confirming that they are exactly that. At some point I think it behooves you to act like you've been here before, act like you've dunked a basketball before. You really want to establish your greatness? Then act like what you do is normal daily activity (because it is, that's why you are great) and don't celebrate it like you've never done before.
And that's not to say that there aren't other guys in the league that don't do it, it's just that these two are so much better and they have so much talent around them. Just sit back and appreciate and be thankful for what you have rather than flaunt it.

You just said you thought he deserves to win! He's not still on the ing Cavs, and you've been picking them and supporting them the entire season until now.
| quote: | | People are allowed to change their opinions. I'm not a Mavericks fan, I just like Dirk, so I hope the Mavericks win. Am I supposed to keep picking the Heat to win if I don't think they will? Sure it would be nice for Lebron to win a championship after laboring in Cleveland for so long, but I don't think he will. I still don't hate on the heat because they just threw together three superstars, I just don't think it's as effective as I did before. There's a huge difference between making logical observations and "hating." |
I said that if Dallas shoots the way they shot last night again, then Miami will lose Game 6. I didn't suddenly have a change of heart and say the Heat were garbage and start rooting for Dallas instead. You're placing a "bet" with Taipan on Dallas to win. That means you hopped off your Heat bandwagon and onto your Dallas bandwagon. I've been following 3 teams for the last several years: Miami, (until recently) Cleveland, and Orlando. I followed Miami originally because Dwayne Wade and Reece Gaines were so close in talent coming out of college and they played each other a lot. D Wade obviously became a superstar and Reece Gaines fell off. I've been enjoying watching the Heat for some time now. You hopped on and off the bandwagon this Playoffs. And for that, you.
At least I don't jump onto bandwagons. |

...You just pointed out that I posted that in April. So by the entire season, you mean the week before the playoffs? I thought he deserved to win one before the playoffs started, because he's been stuck in Cleveland. After watching him perform in the finals, I don't think he deserves to win, because he doesn't play like a champion.
Also how the does placing a bet on Dallas make me a Mavericks fan or say that I'm jumping on the bandwagon? You make bets on who you think is going to win, not who you want to win. They happen to coincide in this instance, but you're an idiot if you think that betting on a team makes you a fan of them. |

Lebron has clearly been struggling in the playoffs. But I'm supporting the Heat because I've been following them for a while, not changing my mind because they're getting beat by Dallas.

Placing a bet isn't jumping on the bandwagon, but calling the opposing team "garbage" is. |

I was supporting Lebron because I thought he deserved to win a title after what he had to stick through in Cleveland. After watching him perform in the finals, I don't think he deserves to win anymore. That's not jumping on or off any bandwagon, it's making a rational observation on his play. I don't see how that's so hard for you to understand. My entire reason for supporting the Heat was because of Lebron James. If I don't think he deserves to win a championship based on how he has played, not the Heat, then why, oh why would I continue cheering for Miami?
Also you literally just said placing a bet meant I was jumping off the Heat bandwagon and onto the Dallas one. I guess you're right though. I should stick to my guns and bet on the team that I think is going to lose, because I really enjoy writing essays. |

Supporting someone, and then not supporting him anymore because he's playing poorly is ing stupid, considering you've been sucking his throughout the entire playoffs. I'm still a fan of Lebron because he plays next-level basketball when he's doing well. The entire reason why he's struggling is mental. The pressure is probably unbelievable for him right now. What I find myself scratching my head with, is why you supported the Heat until they started losing. I'm pretty sure it's because everyone else is doing it. |

When they started losing pretty closely coincided with when Lebron started sucking. If you can't handle pressure, you're not a champion. If you're not a champion, you don't deserve to win a championship. There's not really much else to explain. I understand players have bad games, but his bad games are clearly mental, as you already pointed out. That doesn't mean he's not a good player, it just means he lacks the mental toughness that most champions possess.
Dirk handles pressure. Dirk thrives on pressure. Dirk deserves to win this year, not Lebron. Suggesting that I continue to support the Heat even though I don't think Lebron deserves to win it anymore is stupid. It's not jumping on or off any bandwagons, because I wouldn't call myself a fan of either team, because I only watch the NBA in the playoffs. Since I don't consider myself a "fan" of any team, I can cheer for whoever the I want.
Did you miss all of my posts in support of Dirk as well? It's not anything new that I've thought he's an amazing player and deserves the accolades of one.
I hope you're just having a bad day, because you're being a complete douche for no reason. |

Lebron hasn't been acting like a champion in the Finals. But I support him, because I know he has it in him. I don't throw him under the bus when everyone else does.

Changing your mind on who you support when a player is playing poorly is stupid.

Then why act like one earlier? Why talk about "heat haterz" and how bad you want Lebron to win a championship? If you didn't care, you wouldn't post on every page in the thread.

Dirk is an amazing player, and me and Jeff van Gundy both want a DVD of every shot Dirk has ever taken, because it's an art form. He makes it look easy, and he's clutch to boot. That doesn't mean I'm suddenly going to start cheering for him when I've been supporting the other team the whole time.

Listen, Stephen, don't get me wrong. You're a cool guy sometimes. But I think you are bandwagoning here. If you're going to follow a sport, follow it. Not just during the playoffs. Pick a team and stick with them. Don't flip flop based on who is doing well. |

| I really wish Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson were here to commentate on this blow-by-blow. |
