i don't think you can really count dirk as a reason why the lakers are losing.
dirk has been great..but we all knew he would be. the lakers knew that dirk would be an issue for them, but they didn't expect Bynum to be a nonentity in game 1. they didn't expect a poor performance from pau in game 2, and the probably didn't expect their shooting from behind the arc to be abysmal. they certainly didn't expect to see dallas excel at keeping them off-balance with a small, quick offense.

Oh, and he picks fights with every 'higher-up' on the block. Bonus points for drama.
Renzo
The only reason, shaw, you think that is because of his way of being. He has that "Oh, I care more than anyone!" schtick going for him. "Look at me, I'm passionate! Look at me, I wear tiny t-shirts!"

I'm not saying he doesn't love the Mavs and invests a ton of money into them. He clearly does. I just think your man-crush on him is clouding your vision a bit :p
Renzo
You still my boy, shaw :p
shaw
I'm saying that because of the investment of time, money (they have the poshest facilities in the league, and the league's 2nd highest payroll), and, to a small extent, emotion he invests in them.

My man-crush on him aside, there is nobody else who is as devoted as he is on those 3 measures.

if Rose's ankle is bad and Booz's turf toe is bad, Heat are going to roll the Bulls next round :(
shaw
Then again, I guess I should expect some jealousy from a Huizenga lifer. :p

His in-arena antics are amusing. His outside-arena acumen is truly impressive. Best owner in professional sports IMO.

this. i am starting to change my opinion about cuban. sure he can be obnoxious at times, and he was very obnoxious in the early 2000s. he really toned it down, and got serious with the franchise the past couple of years. also, you can't hate the guy for being a real fan. most professional sports teams have "suits" running the payroll and creating the team.

cuban is a people's gm who manages the mavericks like it's his most cherished treasure. he's botched some transactions in the past, but i'm sure he did it out of his pure basketball fanatic ego. think about it. if you loved basketball just as much as he does, won the lottery by selling your business for multi millions of dollars, and bought your favorite sports team, you would act just like cuban right?

as for outside the basketball court, the guy is very impressive businessman. also very smart, knows his stuff, and a pure entrepreneur who's open to many ideas.

face it. i am a cuban fan. :(
Renzo
Huizenga? Who cares about him. Dude, Mark Cuban is an egomaniac. You get that, right? Mark Cuban loves the Mavs. But you know who he loves way more? Mark Cuban.

But ok, cool, we've said our points. Can't wait 'til calls go against him in these playoffs and he proclaims the NBA is out to get him because they hate him. Get excited.

Who cares about the owner of any professional sports team?
Renzo
You and shaw should start an alliance, butters.
