A big risk with little reward. What would be the purpose to lie about such a thing.... votes? Well the US is 18 months away from an election; the post Bin Laden killin' glow will have worn off by then. If you are going to lie about this you do it weeks before an election, not a year and a half. Additionally, if it were a lie then you can more or less bet that a tape of Osama with a proof of life in it would be on it's way out to the media post haste, which would back-fire the whole thing.
My guess is photos of the body will surface in a week or so; however, the US would be surpressing that for now, as they will want to be seen to be respectful of the fact that Bin Ladan was a human and as such deserving of basic human dignity in death. Failing to do that would certainly inflame those who are sympathetic to him. This is likely the same reason they disposed of his body so quickly; in keeping with the muslim tradition. They were sending a clear message that despite who he was and what he did the US showed him basic human dignity and respected his faith... hella smart move on their part. |

were't the rest of the osamas involved in american politics as well? am i totally out to lunch here (i honestly forget) but like you said craig it is a smart move. i still want to see legit pics of his dead body though.. |
