Sad day for techno...

You appeared as The Wizard for an eclectic closing set at this year’s Movement Festival in Detroit. How do you feel that set went? And do you approach that kind of eclectic set differently?

I thought it went well, but from what I heard afterwards many people were not satisfied with hearing an eclectic set, or at least an eclectic set from me. This was unfortunate to hear because Detroit had always been a place where the mixing of music styles was common—and infamous for. There were not many places that I can play as The Wizard outside of Detroit and the surrounding areas because certain tracks had to be recognized and highly noted by those who remember them in context from when they were first heard and introduced on Detroit radio in the 1980s. I sense there weren’t many people of that age or generation attending [Movement] last year, so as a clear indication to the way things have progressed, The Wizard is a historic concept that will indefinitely rest with last year’s festival.

GTFO. Glad I made it to his party with Basic then. Was that a 'Wizard" party? I assumed it was bcs he was wearing a lab coat and had the live 909.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but that wasn't. However, if it makes you feel better, it was the 20th anniversary of his label.

Yea i must say i tried listening to a few of her sets to get ready for tomorrow, they were all pretty boring with maybe a few minutes here and there sounding good. I wasnt expecting bangin techno or tech house but its just off to me, electronica minimal deep whatever you call her style.

An way i stil have my tix, bought on impulse cuz i never seen her live and there is always a hype when she comes to NYC. I hope it doesnt turn out to be a total snooze fest :sadgreen:

::yawnnn::

Djnoon.. violet is a troll, don't listen to her.

PS. NEVER judge a dj by a set that you listen thru your headphones before seeing them live.. you will learn that this weekend when you're in the mix.

Not gonna lie, Ellen just killed it at Igloofest. I was impressed compared to the last time I saw her a couple of years ago.
