Anyone on Spotify? They have a pretty big selection of EDM releases surprisingly. Or at least surprisingly compared to Rhapsody which sucks.
Any way, I've started making some Techno playlists off of stuff that comes in through my Beatport feed. It's difficult to browse a genre on Spotify but if you know the compilation name a lot of them are there.

Man, I've been wondering the same for the past year. And yes, NY is def weird about local talent. There's this dude called Reade Truth who is a Planet E artist and does a pretty ridiculous live show (he did his live show in Berghain early this year), but no one seems to catch on to him. He's actually one of Tony Rohr's contemporaries, been making music since the 90's.
