Just had an epiphany and I though I'd throw it out there.
Tech House is more fun to produce, techno is way more fun to DJ.
The reason being that some of the amazing tech house out there (and you might consider some of this just techno perhaps but anything with a melody I call Tech House) need not be touched. I'm talking about stuff from Romboy, Christian Smith, Gui Boratto, Dusty Kid, Pan-Pot, Green Velvet etc. The tracks have so many wonderful qualities they need to stand out on their own. Mixing them becomes transitioning from one to the other with the rest of the time twiddling your thumbs, but enjoying the sounds.
Straight up, no bull techno and minimal though you can with to the point where the tracks are unrecognizable. I'm talking deck 4 with half the EQs pulled flat looping through a delay while you grab the kick from your favorite track of the day and filter out the bass of the other 3 tracks, putting the vocal sample from the next track cue'd up into a one-shot cue to hide randomly in the buildup of the main track playing. Just complete craziness going on.
I would love to produce prog tech / melodic tech wtf you wanna call it but DJ 4/4, boom boom, unz unz techno all night.
Am I crazy :conf: I think the DST change has given me cabin fever. The sun is rising at my bed time now. |

I sort of agree. Some of the best techno tracks sound downright naked on their own. That's where layering/fx come in. Tech house is def a bit more straight forward to mix. IDK if one is more or less fun to produce though... |

These are the words I was looking for. Amazing tunes for the sounds they have, or the beat pattern or whatnot but it's a bit like a coloring book of fine art. It's a great base to start with and you can just go ing crazy with the colors.
Btw, Chaska, I believe you're supposed to start some sort of replacement, official techno thread. I will change my wildly inacurate avatar in celebration when this happens. |

| Well we pondered the idea of starting a whole new website for about half a second before concluding we should just make a new thread with a more sensical name. I defer that honor to you. |

Also, it's reassuring to know you sleep. I was starting to think you weren't human. |
